You had a sinking feeling in your gut.  At the moment, you were making dinner for you and your little one, hen it suddenly hit you. You felt nauseous. You gripped the counter as a knock came at the door.

"Mizuko, go get the door, please." Your daughter put down her dolls where she was playing on the floor and ran to do as you had asked. She loved answering the door.

"Oh, daddy!" Your head snapped up. What was he doing here, after leaving like he did? He had crushed you. You stomped to where your daughter was. Indeed, in the door frame was your husband, Eren. You glared at him.

"Eren. Took you long enough." You loved this man. He was infuriating, but you just put up a mad facade. He bowed his head. He hadn't thought that you would have actually changed the locks if he went off to war with his sister, Mikasa, and his best friend, Armin. He had been shocked when his key isn't fit and had resorted to knocking.

"[y/n], I'm sorry." You nearly scoffed.

"If you were sorry, you wouldn't have gone off in the first place. Mizuko needs her father alive, and I can't have the looming threat of you dying in the war." You took a deep breath. "Please, come. Join us for dinner. Tell us stories. I'm sure Mizuko would love that." The girl had grown bored of the conversation but when her name was mentioned she looked up smiling.

"Yeah! Come on, Daddy!" She reached up and grabbed the green-eyes man's hand, dragging him to the dining room.

He blinked when you got there." You got a new table." You looked at it.

"Oh, yeah. The Asanos next door we're going to throw it away. It's perfectly fine so I took it." Eren nodded and Mizuko ran up to him with her dolls.

"Look-y what mommy made me! This one's you, this one's mommy, and this is me!" Eren looked around. On the walls were a few photographs, but plenty of drawings and letters. Looking closely, they were the ones that he had sent to you. The drawings looked to be artwork by the illustrious Mizuko. The girl then went off to play, almost like she knew that Eren wished to speak with you.

When he entered the kitchen, he saw you cutting potatoes. He came up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist. You tensed briefly before placing the knife on the counter and turning to tightly hug Eren. You hugged him like you'd never again be near him. You were shaking in his embrace and he knew you were crying.

"You idiot. Every day, I waited for Levi or Mikasa or Armin or Erwin to come by, telling me that I had lost you. I missed you, so, so much." Eren smiled sadly. He knew that despite the cold welcome, you still loved him. He placed one hand in your hair, the other on your lower back, and he simply hugged you.

He had been gone longer than intended. "I truly am sorry, [y/n]. I'm just surprised you actually changed the locks.

You hiccuped in laughter. "Actually, our lock broke. Somebody broke in. Halfway through the door, though, they nearly got impaled. I was still awake and I had thrown a knife at him." Eren looked at you incredulously.

"That - you did that?" You nodded. "Well, as long as you and Mizuko are alright." Eren bent down to kiss you, but a ruckus beside him shocked him.

"Ew! Mommy said kissing was gross!" You chucked.

"Yes, Muzuko, it is - when you aren't married like your daddy and I are." Eren smiled. He was going to like it here. He knew that his 'welcome back' could have been different, but he deserved it. He had scared you out of your mind and he didn't intend to do it again, because he wanted to be with his wife and with his daughter. He wanted to watch her grow up, and he wanted to remain with you. He loved you, and although he was somewhat stupid, he wasn't stupid enough to let go of you - that's why he had wrote the letters on the walls, even if you didn't write back - it looked like Mizuko was using all you paper up.

Eren was just going to have to tell you how much you meant to him in person then.

He kissed the top of your head. "I love you, [y/n]."
