AU! And I don't wanna spoil it for those who don't know, so you'll find out if you do.
You blushed around Ace quite often. He was good looking, almost always shirtless, and a complete gentleman. You don't know how he fell for you, but he made it quite obvious that he had. The hugs from behind and the spontaneous kisses making you fall for him harder.
"Morning, babe~" A sleepy voice came from the entrance of the kitchen where you were currently reading the paper and drinking coffee. Ace shuffled over to you, kissing your cheek.
"Morning." You kissed him back, glad he had a habit of brushing his teeth after he woke up in the mornings.
"What's for breakfast?" You rolled your eyes.
"You're the one who made the rule, no breakfast after eleven thirty." You raised an eyebrow, the time currently in the pm. He laughed.
"Oh yeah. Well, have you eaten yet?" He had been working nights, his strength from his former life aiding him. That was one of the only reasons he could get a job. You shook your head, watching him pull things out to make something. You loved watching him in the kitchen.
"My father is coming for a visit." Ace dropped an egg, making breakfast anyway.
"He is? When?" The man was panicking.
"Tomorrow afternoon. He's bringing Alexander." Alex was the teenaged boy that your parents adopted three years after you moved out. You liked him, and you immediately invited him to your wedding.
Ace said that you were jumping the gun, but as you had been dating for four years, everyone on your small island was just waiting for one of you to propose already.
Ace liked Alex as well. "Oh, alright, then it shouldn't be so bad." Your dad was pretty bad. He kept trying to get Ace to go fishing with him.

Alex arrived first. Apparently, your dad sent him ahead. He rang your doorbell at nine in the morning, and you and Ace were still in bed. You scrambled for clothes quickly before running for the door, thinking it was your father.
"Hey kid. Come on in." He came in, wordless as usual. He usually didn't speak, but he wasn't mute. He just didn't want to waste his words. He eyes your disheveled hair and mismatched clothes before entering our home. He dropped his bag on the floor, half-falling into your couch to read his book.
"What's that about?" He held it up so that he could keep reading and show you the spine at the sametime. It was on devil fruits. "Did you know that Ace has one?" Alexander's eyes widened in combination of shock and curiosity. "Maybe he'll tell you when he wakes up. Do you mind if I go tidy myself?" He smirked and went back to his book. You took this as permission.
Twenty minutes later, you had wet hair and proper clothing on. You poured yourself a bowl of cereal and offered some to Alex, whose stomach could be heard in the kitchen. He accepted.
When Ace finally awoke, you and Alex were playing crazy eights. Ace wasn't wearing a shirt and you cringed when you spotted red lines running down his back. Alex looked at your red face and started laughing. You liked his laugh, though it took a lot for him to actually let it out.
"You're so embarrassed. How long have you been sleeping together?" Ace answered in your place.
"About a year."
"Ace!"
"What? He asked. Why shouldn't I answer? Besides, it's not like he's going to tell your dad." He rolled his eyes as he responded, pausing to drink from the carton.
Alexander suddenly remembered his question for your half-naked boyfriend. At least he was proud to show your marks. "Hey Ace." He looked over. "Do you really have devil fruit powers?" A glint in his eyes told you he was very interested.
"Yeah. I haven't used it since I retired from my life of piracy. Oh. Don't tell anyone about that, okay? There's a reason we live all the way out here." Alex's sharp intake of breath is all you heard, the sound of birds and cicadas quite for once.
"Alex nodded, hoping Ace would continue. He liked Ace before, he probably thought he was the coolest thing since sliced bread now.
"I ate the Mera-mera no mi, say, eight years ago? I was nineteen." Ace had met you four and a half years ago. You had been dating him about a year before you moved in together. Currently, Ace was twenty-seven. You were twenty two.
"Here, this was a fun move." Ace grabbed a shirt from the pile of laundry you meant to do, and headed into your backyard of a forest. It had been a wet summer, so a fire was unlikely. He held out his hands as Alex watched from the porch, in awe, when light green orbs appeared out of thin air. Alex reached out to touch one and you grabbed his wrist to hold him back.
"Why?" He was asking why you kept im from touching the bright lights. You picked up an acorn and tossed it at a nearby orb. Alex watched as it exploded, setting off all the others.
"That's called 'firefly.'" Ace came back up the steps.
"That was quite the show, Ace. I didn't know the man on the wanted poster was actually you. I thought it was just a coincidence." You looked from your lover in horror, to your father at the edge of the clearing. Color drained from Ace's face. "But that doesn't mean I won't still kick your ass if you hurt my [son/daughter]." At least he knew why Ace refused to go fishing on the boat.
"Yes sir." Your dad came up beside you."
"And nice marks." He tapped your neck, littered with hickeys from Ace.
