Dean's eyes went wide as his breath hitched in his throat. Castiel stood before the hunter, just as shocked as he was but keeping a small withered smile on his face. He knew this would just create more problems than there actually were between them, but it needed to be said and explained.
"How- I don't...I mean. Cas-" Dean tried to form a coherent sentence but ultimately failed. Even forming a coherent thought was beyond the hunter as well.
"Dean, I know we didn't mean for this to happen, nobody really ever does. I've answered and declined many prayers of people who wanted nothing but a child. I've given that right to another angel. Someones who could actually handle the depressing and angered prayers towards their problem. I've never realized I wanted a child myself until my inner and most deepest thoughts were answered. In a way, this is unwanted by both of us. So that's why I'm leaving." Cas broke the news like a child confessing to breaking their parent's lamp. Shyly but firmly standing his ground.
"Leaving? What do you mean leaving? Where are you gonna go?" Dean asked.
"I would go back to heaven. Have it removed." Castiel didn't break a sweat when he stated of killing an unborn child.
"Cas, that's morally wrong! Why would you do that?!" Dean grew angry.
"Because they're illegal! Nephilim are wanted in heaven and on earth. They are to be killed on the spot. I don't want to live my life like that, constantly on the run with my child."
"Our child." Dean corrected. Cas was visibly taken aback by the hunters words. Dean didn't expect to hear those words come from his mouth either, seeing as he didn't make much out of it when he was told.
"What?" Cas asked.
"Cas, it is our child, and though unwanted, it won't go unloved. I will love you and our baby. But please, don't jump the gun here. It isn't fair to me that you don't ask me first. I want to have a say in this." Dean stepped closer to Cas, weaving his hand into the angel's and held it tightly. He didn't want to let go.
"We can't take care of it ourselves Dean. Always on the road and never having a permanent home-"
"We have each other, and the bunker. We also have Sam to help out with us. My home is wherever you are; wherever you go, I go. I love you." Dean forced those three words from his lips but it sounded natural. Like he was always meant to say them to Cas and only Cas. It felt comfortable. It felt right.
"Dean, I wouldn't want this any other way. But, it's going to take a little getting used to." Cas remarked. Dean happily scoffed.
"I'm still getting used to you and me, let alone a baby to take care of in a couple of months." Dean mentioned. His hand still intertwined with the angel's.
"So, are we okay on this? Are we okay with us and the baby?" Dean asked, sliding his free hand to Cas's neck. The hunter didn't need to know his angel was scared, he could feel him trembling under his hands. Dean was the same, he covered his emotions better than most people but he felt just as scared as the angel. Perhaps even more scared.
Castiel smiled, pulling Dean's hand from his neck to his stomach. "Yeah, I think we're okay with this. As long as you are as well." The angel asked. Dean smirked. Cas swooned over the crow's feet that developed at the corners of Dean's eyes. It showed his age when he thought he was always young. It showed he was still willing to be himself and willing to take on another chapter in his life.
"Yeah, I'm good with this. But I just want you to be happy. I don't want to force something on you that you don't want." Dean acknowledged, moving his thumb across the angel's stomach. It felt familiar. The warm skin that he held so close that night, feeling every bump and blemish in his existence. The taunting way he would beg for his grant to go crazy in whichever way he wanted. He loved the way his angel begged for more, pleaded to be taken advantage of with everything he had.
