Dean woke up the next morning, breathing in a long sigh then letting it out through a stretch. He turned over and wrapped his arms around a warm body that was laying next to him.

Wait a minute. Who is this? Dean thought. He opened his eyes to look next to him and see a familiar mess of dark brown hair and a tan body.

"Cas?!"

The angel opened his eyes for a mere second before they shot open again and looked over to the hunter, a look of horrified pleasure written all over his face. Dean looked the exact opposite as he jumped out of bed, bare naked, and looked for a pair of clean underwear.

"Dean? What...happened last night?" Cas asked, blinking away the tired from his eyes. Dean hurriedly grabbed his clothes, still searching for his flannel, as he tried to slip back into his jeans.

"Nothing happened Cas! Absolutely nothing happened last night, so let's just leave it at that. Okay?" The hunter advised, not wanting to deal with the embarrassment of last night's events.

"O-okay. But seriously, what happened last night? I have no memory of the events that took place." Cas' eyes told the similar story of confusion and surprise as he looked to an equally confused and panicked Dean.

"Nothing! This was just a one time thing! Nothing more!" Dean threw on his Led Zeppelin shirt from last night and his dark green flannel as he was about to leave his own bedroom before closing the door again and sighing. He sat back on the bed with Cas gathering the blankets around him, still having the confused and surprised face that he held when he woke up.

"Look, Cas, I do like you, I really do. But whatever this was, it stays at last night. That's all. It was just one time." Dean looked deep into Cas' eyes, almost melting at the deep ocean blue that surrounded his pupil. The angel smiled, just a small smile that was enough to say that he got the message. The hunter smiled as well, seeing Cas slip his hand into Dean's but he didn't retreat from it. In fact, he enjoyed the feeling.

He was warming up to the idea of the angel's hand in his and how he could quickly get used to it. He could get used to the feeling of another person to go to bed with and wrap his arms around. He could used to the feeling of loving another person who he knows can handle himself but would protect with his life anyways.

He could get used to the feeling of letting himself love again. Loving Cas.

He pulled his hand away and blinked hard. Dean looked back to the angel, seeing a somber smile he's never seen before as it made him want to take away the confusion and pain he was feeling. Though Dean was feeling the same.

"I've gotta, uh...I gotta go do a run. You get dressed." Dean got up and left the room, leaving the angel as he rested his head against the door behind him, closing his eyes and almost admitting defeat.

He knew there could've been something there, but maybe it was just a fluke in their relationship and to never be brought up again. Although he never said no to it. He thought it was something different this time, something different from every attempt at love he tried for.

But he knew that this wasn't going to be just one time.
