Dean awoke in the nursery with a blanket thrown over him and dried spit on his chin. Disgusted, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand as he stood and stretched his arms above his head. A fussing noise came from the crib as the hunter smiled. Right on time as always. Dean stumbled over to the crib and grinned from ear to ear as soon as he laid eyes upon the child that fussed between the blankets.

"Hello my baby girl. Good morning." Dean whispered, gingerly picking her up and holding her against his chest. Her rapid heartbeat bashed his own as his picked up speed at the feeling of her warmth and tiny frame. Dean smirked, bouncing on his heels and balls of his feet as she slowly stopped her fussing and quieted down. The hunter couldn't believe he created this tiny human with his angel. It still hurts everyday he wakes up and Cas isn't with him. His angel is gone and knowing he can't do anything about it is the hardest thing he's ever done. Getting stabbed or shot was better than the pain he was feeling.

"We are going to have a good day today, Nova. No angel invasions, no confusing deals, just me, you, and Uncle Sammy. Hmm? Doesn't that sound fun?" Dean asked in a babyish tone, tickling her neck as she giggled and the hunter smiled. "I kind of thought you did." He responded.

Dean took her out to the hallway and walked her down to the library where Sam was typing away on his laptop while multitasking with a cup of coffee and taking a drink when he could.

"Morning." Dean acknowledged, watching his step as he held Nova and stepped down to the floor and made his way over to Sam who had a cup of hot coffee waiting for him.

"Morning to you too. How'd you sleep in the nursery?" Sam asked, the slightest of smirks upon his face as he didn't even look away from the screen of his laptop.

"I've had better nights. Then again, we've had worse nights." The older brother pointed out, sitting and adjusting his daughter in his arms as he took a drink and swallowed it contently with a sigh. The younger hunter smirked.

"How did this one sleep?" Sam asked, gesturing to the infant as she was almost sound asleep again. Dean sighed and cleared his throat, adjusting his daughter in his arms as she fussed in her sleep by being disturbed. "She slept pretty well. Better than most babies I've seen. I think we have a steady sleeper on our hands." Dean said with a smile on his face as Sam shook his head.

"She's a newborn, Dean. Literally born two days ago. She's going to be spending most of her time sleeping and eating and pooping." Sam answered, still typing away at his laptop before taking a drink of coffee.

"Was she really only born two days ago?" Dean asked, a look of complete sadness washing over his face. Cas has only been gone for two days when it felt like a lifetime. The hunter could not imagine the rest of his life being spent alone with his daughter. Without his angel. It was a pain that never went away, a searing hot knife that has been plunged into his chest and it could never be removed. No matter how hard he tried to forget.

For the first time the whole morning Sam looked up from his laptop only to see Dean on the verge of tears. The younger hunter pursed his lips and did his best to comfort his brother by wrapping his arm around him and pulling him into chest for a hug. "Dean, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have-"

"It's okay Sam. I'm just...shocked at the lack of time that has passed. I miss him so much Sam. He's been gone for too long for me and it hurts." Dean hugged his brother closer as he refused to release his daughter anytime after that. Being released from the younger brother's grasp, Dean sniffled and started to lightly swing Nova in his arms to keep her from waking up.

"I know Dean, I know. I miss him too. It certainly is quieter around here without him making a mess of the bunker with his wings." Sam chuckled as Dean did the same. Not a couple seconds later, Nova decided to make her presence with a hiccuping cry in the older hunter's arms as he chuckled again.

"I think someone is hungry." Dean added, picking her up and setting her against his chest as he rose from his spot and made his way to the kitchen to get her formula. The older hunter prepared her bottle as she continued to fuss in his arms. He smiled at her soft crying, bouncing her in his arms as she calmed herself. He couldn't believe he ever denied his feelings for Cas. The guilt would always be set deep in his chest from the very beginning of their relationship. He even felt guilty about ever questioning his relationship when Cas told him he was pregnant, never wanting anything to do with it. But there he was, holding his most prized possession in his arms as the other half of his heart was long gone and slowly but surely rebuilding itself with the tiny being that rested in his arms.

Dean started to hum a little song, something that he hadn't heard in years. Something long ago from his childhood and hoping he could share it with Nova.

"Hey Jude, don't make it bad.

Take a sad song and make it better

Remember to let her into your heart

Then you can start to make it better.

Hey Jude, don't be afraid

You were made to go out and get her

The minute you let her under your skin

Then you begin to make it better."

Dean smirked, listening to the quietness of the bunker and the small sound of his daughter happily suckling away on the sweet liquid that fed her. "And you have certainly found your way under my skin, darling, in the most amazing ways. I love you so much." The hunter kissed her forehead as she continued to feed off the warm formula with her eyes drooping and lazily looking at her surroundings.

The hunter began to stroll around the kitchen and eventually around the bunker, taking his time to calm his daughter as he made his way back to the nursery for her to lay down for little nap as she was already falling asleep with the bottle still attached to her lips.

Dean bounced back and forth, long after she was done feeding, as he stroked her tiny head and disrupted her jet black hair. She looked so much like Cas, it scared the hunter more than going into a hunt without warning or no research done. He loved her with everything he had. Illegal and most certainly unexpected, Dean wouldn't trade any of it for the entire world.

Nova has certainly gotten under his skin.

A loud crash of glass breaking and a yell came from the library as it certainly woke Nova up as she gave a piercing cry and the hunter gave an exasperated sigh. Knowing now it would certainly be a while until he would get her down again. He picked her up and quieted her down the best he could before going out to discover what made such a loud and disturbing noise that woke his daughter.

"Sam? Sam, what the hell is going on?" Dean asked, looking to his brother who stood like a statue and cleary paralyzed by fear.

"Dean? I'm not hallucinating am I?" Sam asked, his voice shaking from fear. The hunter looked at him confused at the question. "I shouldn't think so. Sam, are you okay?"

"I'm not the only one that sees it right?" Sam replied.

"Oh come now Samsquatch, is that any way to treat your boyfriend?" The angel replied, resting his shoulder against the doorframe with that wicked smirk upon the tricksters face.
