"I'm not so sure I follow this Dean. The principal keeps smacking the student's rear end with the ruler, isn't that supposed to be used for measuring and not a sexual device?" Cas was sitting in front of the television, Dean watching from the other room with Sam sitting next to him, the older brother doing a rather loud and obvious facepalm.
"Remind me again why he keeps watching those?" Sam asked, chuckling at his own words.
"Why do we keep leaving him with the remote?" Dean snapped back. The oldest hunter looked to the confused angel in the other room with a dim smile, realizing a strange emotion he's only felt to the ones he truly cares about. Pushing it down would only make it worse, but he realized it would have to do for now.
"Besides, it keeps him entertained for now while we try to do research with him not interjecting all the time." Dean went back to his computer that was sitting in front of him, typing away in the search engine, trying to seem busy. Dean felt the questionable eyes of his younger brother burning a hole into the side of his head, clearing his throat and averting his attention back to their research.
-------
Dean must've fell asleep as he woke up in a small puddle of his own drool on the table, looking around seeing nor hearing anybody left in the room. He arched his back, stretching it in the chair, falling back and smacking his lips while he suppressed a yawn.
"Anybody here?" Dean asked out loud, getting up from his chair and walking to the kitchen. He found a fresh pot of coffee waiting for him with a note that said,
"Went out with Cas to go grocery shopping. Be back soon. Keep researching." -Sam
The older hunter wrinkled his nose then sniffled, putting the note aside and pouring a cup of coffee for himself. He took a sip of the hot liquid and let the effects of the caffeine wake him to a more awake state. Sitting back in the living room, he rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands then sat back to do more research.
A couple hours have gone by, as well as the pot of coffee, and Dean hit rock bottom with the research, finding nothing but folklore and fake tabloids. He rubbed his eyes, sighing then turning into a yawn. Looking to his watch, not being too surprised at the time as it was almost six o'clock at night, he got up to make another pot of coffee as Sam and Cas returned with the Impala and an armful of groceries for each of them.
"Morning Sleeping Beauty, did you find anything?" Sam joked, knowing his brother most likely found nothing but the inside of his eyelids.
"Haha, very funny Sammy. No, nothin' but fake stories and folklore. What did you guys bring back? Something good I hope." Dean rubbed his hands together as he dug through most of the groceries until he found an apple pie. Mouth watering, he licked his lips then sat back down with a plastic fork in hand.
"Thanks Sammy." Dean added, digging into the pie and already having a mouthful of the dessert.
"Actually, that wasn't me. It was Cas' idea." Sam pointed to the angel behind him, a blush creeping up on Cas' cheeks. The younger hunter left with a pursed lip smile to put away the rest of the groceries in the kitchen.
Dean looked to the angel, feeling those same butterflies erupt in his stomach as he could barely swallow his mouthful of apple pie. The angel smiled, feeling those same butterflies flutter against the walls of his stomach, though not being entirely sure what it meant, but he knew it felt good.
Dean smiled. Not just a Winchester smile, but a genuine loving smile, something that the angel hasn't seen the likes of for a long time. Or ever.
Dean and Cas were left alone in the room, the growing awkward silence becoming almost deafening. The angel cleared his throat, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, studying the pattern of the leather shoes he was wearing. Dean followed his eyes to the same shoes, not seeing what was so interesting about the shoes, but becoming enthralled with them nonetheless.
"Why did you get me the pie?" Dean asked. He set the pie down on the table then stood over the angel as he was much taller than him. Cas swallowed hard, eyes darting back and forth to the hunter's bright green ones, hanging up on every individual freckle that was imprinted on his face. The angel smirked, Dean doing the same.
"I, uhh, I just wanted to do something nice for you." Cas blurted. The hunter snickered, not realizing how close they were to each other until he could feel the warm breath of Cas on his neck.
Dean drew his hand to Cas' jawline, stroking the five o'clock shadow that covered his chin as he brought him closer to his lips.
"Thank you." Dean whispered before connecting his lips to the angel's, enveloping him in a hug as well.
Cas' eyes lit up as they closed then wrapped his hands around his neck, bringing Dean closer to him as they lengthened and deepened the kiss.
Both neither knew what was going on but as they started moving things to the bedroom, undressing each other along the way, never resting and never disconnecting their lips and tongues, they knew it didn't feel wrong. But more or less, it felt exactly right.
