"A princess doesn't play golf. Especially in a dress!" Ava barks in my ear.
"Well this one does!" I snarl back. I grab a putter and a golf ball, making both my father and brother stand in shock. As I walked over to the golf cart, which Johnny was standing by, I pealed off those awful heels. "Can't play golf with these on!" I exclaim loudly. I grab the bag with my sneakers and Ava looks as if she's going to murder me with Tony's golf club.
"I like this girl." Tony comments to Clayton.
"I don't know yet." He mumbles, eyebrows scrunching. I sit on the back of the cart and I pull out my dirty, well-used Converse.
"Oh my." Ava's voice goes high pitched. I smirk, finding it amusing that I have shocked her so badly. Once I get done tying my laces I grab the club, which Johnny had held onto for me. I smiled innocently at Ava, loving the hatred burning in her eyes.
If they don't love me for me, I'll gladly make them hate me. Starting with that witch, Ava.

Once we got back to the mansion, I ran up to change before Ava could make me stay in this crappy dress any longer. I basically ripped it in four different places trying to get it off.
"Miss, you called for me?" I hear Johnny's voice by the door.
"Johnny!" My voice is muffled by the  dress, since it's stuck in all the crap in my hair. I walk out with my arms slumped over my head somehow. "I need your help." He tries to hide his laughter but I end up laughing with him.
"How'd this happen?" He joins in on the mess, finding one of the many holes I accidentally made.
"This dress is cursed. All of them are." I spit fire.
"Hold on." He slides it right over my head in about three seconds. My hair gets pulled and tugged during the process and of course I react to it. Once it's off I sigh, taking the dress from him. He sits on the bed that I'm supposed to call mine and I go into my closet. "Why call me?" He finally asks, while I throw the cursed thing into the trash can.
"Well, my mom is burying herself in ice cream, trying to calm my father, and I noticed the wedding band, so it's not like I have to worry about you Johnny."
"Wow, you can really take in from your surroundings." He laughs.
"So, how long?"
"Going on two years." While he talked about the love of his life, I continued to get dressed. That strapless bra I was forced to wear was a pain in my butt; so I threw it away too. My new, and comfortable, outfit was ripped jeans rolled up a little higher than my ankles, a white tank, a plaid shirt tied around my waists and a short sleeve, loose sweater to hang around my arms. Once I joined everyone in the living room, Ava looked even more disgusted; if that's even possible.
"Ava, what did you do to the poor girl? Did you force her to put on a dress?" Tony laughs and I sit criss cross on the couch, which she sat proper and legs crossed. My mother came and sat down next to me and sighed real loud.
"Is everything okay?" Tony asks, suddenly interested in my mother's moping.
"Aaron is just shutting me out." My mom pouts and I huff, laughing at her on the inside.
"He'll come around, don't you worry Brooke." Tony comforts, but the look in both Ava and my moms eyes were fragile. Almost fearful, as if they're trying to hide something... Including more about this family.
"So, does my new sister have a social life?" Clayton speaks up and everyone else just shuts down.
"Yes, of course." I sigh, thinking about my two best friends. "Mae and Connor."
"Whom are they?" Ava looks up.
"Well, Mae is my best girl friend, she's insane, and Connor, well, he's my boyfriend." I smile at the word.
"So she can have a serious relationship but I'm forbidden?" Clayton almost shouts.
"Clayton, you couldn't have a steady relationship even if your life depended on it." Tony laughs back, "and obviously no one has told her yet." He snaps towards Ava.
"Tell me what-"
"I haven't had time to tell her, but to be honest, I didn't think she would even have a social life." Ava adds in, poison in her tone.
"Did anyone ask for your opinion?" Tony barks.
"I'm sorry." She bows her head in shame, biting her tongue.
"Tell me what?" I repeat, louder to get their attention.
"Oh crap." My mother curses, putting her head in her hands, muttering to herself.
"You can't see this Connor kid." Tony announces and I feel anger bubble in my chest.
"Why not?" I burst, venom spitting off my tongue.
"Honey, I forgot to mention something that comes along with this arrangement...." My mom touches my arm, but I stand up and defend myself.
"Tell me exactly what's going on here!" I bark, not caring my approach.
"You're betrothed."
"Betrothed?" I repeat, confused.
"His name is Gus Princeton, and he's a nice guy; fit for the royal family, and the royal crown." Tony sips his coffee, taking this very well; unlike me.
"You mean, I have to marry a total stranger, over someone I call my best friend?" I clarify.
"Pretty much." Tony confirms.
"No." I shout, "I refuse."
"You can't; its already been set in stone." Ava speaks now, getting the look from Tony. It looks as if he's angry he had to tell me the news.
"No, you guys haven't even met Connor! You're judging him even though you've never seen him!"
"Skylar, honey, calm down." My mother stands up.
"Her name is Jocelyn." Ava stands also.
"My name is Skylar! And I'm not marrying this 'Gus'. You guys need to meet Connor before you force me to do anything!" And with that I run up to my temporary room and I slam the door.
