Chapter Thirty-Nine || Goodbye's and New Starts

A/N: I really suggest listening to a sad song whilst reading this chapter, TRY: If I Could Fly by One Direction, or maybe Love Me or Leave Me by Little Mix (My two suggestions, you can listen to whatever you want x)

P E R R I E

The past three days had been painful. Going to sleep and not seeing Zayn, and then waking up and not seeing Harry. It was horrible. I mean, it felt like yesterday when I was conflicted and couldn't choose between them both - but now I had no one.

I had attended Niall's birthday and it wasn't as crowded as I expected it to be. It was more intimate and quiet - my type of gatherings. I invited Eleanor and Liam along with me and they were super pumped about it. Liam was so excited about getting a record deal, he had clearly told me that he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. I wanted to invite Louis along as well but I didn't want to leave Harry out. I knew he had a flight tomorrow with the rest of the boys, and I didn't want them both to fall behind in their packing.

As much as I didn't feel like going out, I felt like I should at least try to socialise a bit and move on - which, may I add, was so hard. I guess that was Zayn's purpose as well - to enjoy life to the fullest and live like it's the last day on earth. Locking myself  up in my room and crying would make it seem like I learnt nothing.

But I never wanted my experience with Zayn to be a lesson. He can't just pop into my life, make me fall for him and then just..disappear? I know I pushed him away, but he wouldn't leave so suddenly.

"I didn't expect this party to be so posh" Eleanor mused as she looked around Niall's bar, "I thought it was going to be filled with loud men watching football and downing beer"

"Why? Because Niall's irish?" I guessed.

"You got it" She nodded, sipping her wine, "This is actually so good"

I laughed and set my glass of lemonade on the table, "If you say so"

"Okay, where's the man of the hour?" Liam asked me, "I can't find him anywhere!"

Liam and Niall were now really close as they had met at auditions. Before that, Liam was a regular at this place too, so the pair already knew eachother.

"Birthday Boy's over there, isn't he?" I pointed towards Niall who was talking to some other men. As soon as he saw me and my friends, he patted their backs and headed towards us with a big grin.

"Hey mates!" He  greeted, offering his hand out to Eleanor and then giving Liam a man-hug.

"Happy Birthday!" I smiled, giving him a hug as well, "So you've already met Liam, so this is Liam's girlfriend - Eleanor, and this is Niall - owner of this amazing place"

"Your doing a good job running this business, mate" Liam smiled, "There haven't been many successful wine bars in the city before, yours might be the first"

"Thanks" Niall gave him a proud grin, "Have you guys tried the food yet? We hired a pretty good caterer, come on, you have to try some!"

We were introduced to some of Niall's friends and family whilst trying out some food. I kept thinking about Harry in the back of my mind. He was probably prepping  for LA tomorrow and I was here at a party. I should be helping him.

"I'm glad we're friends" Niall laughed, "I didn't think I'd make any new ones apart from the ones I have"

"How could you not? Your the friendliest person I've ever met. That night when I approached you, I didn't really think you'd have a conversation with me whilst I was drunk. And I definitely didn't think you'd have a conversation with Harry whilst he was drunk!"
