She walked down the hallway and looked down as he stepped closer to her. She expected him to walk right by like everyone else, but he stopped and asked her if she was alright. She quickly faked a smile, something she was so used to doing, said she was fine, and started to step away when he stopped her. He wrapped his arms around her and simply held her. She instinctively grabbed him and held on, not wanting to let go; it was all she could do to keep from crying. He held her tightly, not crushing her, but tight enough to not let her fall, tight enough to fit some of her broken pieces back together. Her head pressed against his chest while his chin rested on the top of her head. Before he let go, he hugged her a little tighter and reminded her that everything was going to be okay. For the first time in forever, she believed it.
