[shawn's pov]

This would be the first summer The Mendes family would spend the whole three months of summer in a whole other state, California. It's been a tradition to go every summer for at least two weeks, but since the family was in the middle of moving here they wanted to take some time to look at houses.

Shawn, the oldest child didn't have a problem with this. He adored this place. It was always sunny, and even though the sun was sometimes unbearable it was still his favorite place. Back in Canada it's mostly cold.

Their rented car pulled in front of the beach house. They had to get a a bigger car to fit all their belongings. Mr. Mendes was a pretty wealthy man, yet stayed humble. Surely because of his wife. She came from a not so wealthy family, opposite of my her husband. He was already working for his dad at the age of seventeen.

Shawn would've done that, but He plans to go to college to be a therapist for anyone in need of mental help. Just someone for them to talk to. His dad really doesn't like that idea, though, he still supports Shawn on his decision. Just like he doesn't really favor him being gay.

"Shawn, help me bring these boxes in." He looked up at his dad motioning to the boxes inside the hatchet. He grabbed two that where stacked on each other, and carried them up the stairs leading to the front door. Because of he house being near the beach it was on pillars.

He sat the box near the door, and went back out to carry a few more. Most of the stuff was clothes, dishes, and some other personal belonging. The house was already furnished. Shawn's sister, Aaliyah, and his mom carried the suitcases in.

Shawn brought his boxes and suitcases up to his room. It was the only room on the third floor. It was like a attic. The correct term is a frog, more of a room then storage area. The walls where painted a calming navy blue. The bed was covered in a white duvet with navy blue trimming and pillows to match the walls, and a bathroom was connected. His parents had built that in.

Although, Shawn's most favorite thing about this room was the balcony connected to the frog (the room). It wasn't very big, big enough for a bungee chair, and a table with two chairs. He was the only one who actually sat out there though.

"Shawn, guess what?!" He looks up from unpacking to see Aaliyah at the door. "What?" A sigh escaped his lips, a little grumpy from the car ride. She grinned and motioned him out the room. I rolled my eyes, but followed anyways. Aaliyah lead her brother to the window looking out towards the house beside ours.

"We have new neighbors. The boy is super cute." She said. Shawn looked at the women and man carrying boxes In. Eyeing the new people closely. A boy walked out the front door to get another box. "Oh. He is cute." His eyes widened. Aaliyah giggled, "Told you."
