[taylor's pov]
Taylor was beyond excited to be spending the three months of summer in California. His parents had finally found a empty beach house opened to buy, and his dad just got the perfect job promotion. Plus the house came furnished.
Originally the family is from a small town in Indiana called Princeton. Not to much happens around there, and not many beaches are in Indiana. Almost none. That's why they're so excited to be here.
"Taylor, honey, come down stairs please." Mrs. Caniff voice called for her son. Taylor threw the folded shirt he had in his hand back into his suitcase, and walked down stairs. The parents stood at the door. Mr. Caniff had the car keys in hand.
"Your dad and I are gonna go grab some pizza. Watch your sister please." Mom said, Taylor nodded. They left with a goodbye, and he went back up to unpack a few more of his belongings. Taylor was the eldest. His mom and dad had his little sister when he was three. It was a little skeptical since Taylor was so used to being a only child.
Payton was up in her room playing around on her phone. She had already unpacked one of our suitcases, but figured she was done for the night. Taylor walks back to his room to unpack a few more things for today. The sun was just starting to set on the horizon. Taylor's room had to perfect view of the beach. He was in love already.
Since Taylor's mother knew how much he loved to photograph the beach and sunset she allowed him to get the frog, it had a balcony attached to it (a/n just like Shawn's). This room was his favorite part of this house. Taylor left the packing for a bit to go out on the balcony. He grabbed his cannon camera on the way out.
Perfect time to photograph. Taylor held the camera up and shut one eye as he focused the camera on the water and sunset. The picture came out almost perfect. He took a few more snaps before sitting in the chair placed on the balcony.
Taylor eyes find their way to the house next door. Which also had a balcony. What really caught his eyes was the boy sitting on it reading some book. Seem to be interested in the small paper back. Little strings of his brown hair getting caught in the wind. From what Taylor could see the boy was nice looking. Beautiful.
The houses weren't far apart. Just a smooth path between each home leading to the beach for visitors. About a six ft length between each house.
"It's not nice to stare." The boy is now standing and leaning on the ledge of the balcony. Taylor didn't even notice he was staring, just zoned out. "I-I'm sorry. I zoned out." Taylor apologizes, nervously.
The boy only chuckles, "What's your name? I'm Shawn." Shawn says.
"Taylor." He answers. Now that Taylor got a better look he could definitely confirm this boy was beautiful, actually that's a understatement. Oh that crooked smile he gave him. Even then when the sun finally set the light from his balcony helped Taylor see Shawn.
"Is this your first summer here?" Shawn questions. He nods, "Yea. My parents and I just got this house for the summer, well they own it now."
"Really, maybe I could show you around. My family has been coming here for years. It's my second home." He gives a warm smile. "That'd be nice. I know no one, or where anything is around here." Taylor chuckles.
"Cool, let's hang tomorrow. I'll be over at ten to get you. Be ready." Shawn says standing straight off the ledge. Taylor nods and stands up from his chair. It was nice to have met someone to have around, at least for the summer. Just so he could get familiar with the area.
They wave goodbye, and go back in to get ready for bed. His parents where home by then. Taylor went down to eat, and joined them at the kitchen table. All this time Shawn was on his mind. Taylor told his parents about the encounter, and the boys plans to hangout tomorrow. They thought it was good Taylor was making a new friend.
