Chapter 19

Natalie's POV

Things were getting much better as the year went on. Me and my friendshad a great time at prom and graduated-happy to be done with high school. My 18th birthday was great and the best one I've ever had. Mom, Thomas, Jack, Liam, and my friends had thrown me a surprise party and given me lots of nice gifts. The best one was from Thomas-he had given me his car and the keys. I told him it was too much and that he and Mom needed it more than me. But they insisted and told me they had my Mom's car and I would need a car in the future. I had also gotten a summer job doing something I love-grooming and taking care of dogs. All the dogs I took care of were adorable, I had a nice manager and employees to work with, and the pay was good. Jack had also made 3 friends and celebrated his 6th birthday with them.

But the best that happened this summer was the wedding and Thomas becoming our stepdad. On a beautiful day in June, Thomas proposed to my Mom amd she said yes. Thomas had told me and Jack before he did it and we were excited. 2 months later, the wedding happened. We had invited Mom and Thomas's families. Jack was the ring bearer and Mom's sister, my Aunt Alyssa was her maid of honor. Mom had also asked me and my friends to be her bridesmaids and asked Liam and his friends to be her groomsmen. We were all so excited. Thomas's brother Malcolm was his best man and his adorable niece Kathryn, was the flower girl. Me and my friends all wore strapless purple dresses that went down to our knees and had flowers behind our ears. The reception was great too and I danced with Liam a lot on the dance floor, even though I am no dancer at all and dance like a drunk person.

6 years later

I had just graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in being a veterinarian. It was summer and I was spending time with Liam and my family. I am 23 now and have been dating Liam for 6 years. We have become closer than ever. Mom and Dad are also very happy together and Thomas is the best Dad ever. I don't even refer to him as my stepdad anymore. I started calling him Dad instead of Thomas after the wedding, even though I was allowed to still call him Thomas. Jack also calls him Dad too. My brother is 12 now and I can't believe how much he grew up. Seems like just yesterday he was a little 5 year old. All the therapy we went through has really helped us with our mental health and the abuse we went through and now that's he's older, Jack has realized how dangerous our biological father really was. Jack has also been extremely grateful to me for protecting him and getting him away from the abuse when he was young and didn't understand. Jack and our new Dad also have the best father-son relationship I've seen.

Even though my friends don't live close to me anymore, I'm still in touch with them and we get together once or twice a year. They also have married Harry, Niall, Louis, and Zayn and I was a bridesmaid at all 4 of the weddings. Victoria and Louis and Rose and Harry also have children. Victoria and Louis have an adorable son Freddie and an adorable daughter Alice. Harry and Rose have 2 sweet daughters-Abby and Molly and a cute son Ethan. Carly also told me and my friends at our last get-together that she was pregnant with her firstborns-that's right twins. Her and Zayn are so excited and of course we are too.

Today Liam was taking me out on a nice, romantic walk on a beach. I was excited and couldn't think of a better way to spend my day with him. We went at sunset and were the only people on the beach. The weather was perfect too and the view was beautiful. As we looked at the sunset Liam began to talk "Natalie I love you more than anything with all my heart and soul. We've been together for 6 years and I've loved every second of it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. We've had our ups and downs and our struggles but we got through them together and it's made our relationship stronger. You make me so much more happy when I'm with you and you've made me a better person. Ever since we met in 5th grade, I felt something telling me you are the person I was meant to be with and grow old with. And I strongly believe that". Before I could even ask what he meant, Liam got down on one knee and pulled a small box out of his pocket. He opened it and I saw a ring glistening in the remaining sunlight. "Natalie Leigh Rosemary, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

What a sweet ending! This book will probably end in the next 2 or 3 chapters. Also school is finally over and I finished all my exams. And Happy Father's Day!
