Adelaide
I didn't mention anything to Riley when she called me the next morning. I simply told her he never showed up. She then proceeded for the most part to tell me what a dick he was. I stopped listening after that, probably because she called me at around nine, I don't think she understood what an ungodly hour that is for me.
"Mikey's here." My door swings open as I finish slipping on a shirt, watching through my mirror as he struts into my room. I never had time to tell Michael about the party, I knew what he would say anyways and not telling him relieved me of the stress.
"Thanks for making it clear," I reply sarcastically. It's a little after noon, therefore, my mom wasn't home and wouldn't be home until later. Michael plops himself down on my bed and I remember last night's events. I shake the thought and the feeling it brought, focusing on the rather large boy on my freshly made bed.
"It's Saturday, what do you wanna do? There's really nothing to do if we're being completely honest." Michael says, spreading out so he resembled a starfish.
"We can go to the movies?' I suggest, not really wanting to if I'm being honest.
"You know I get anxiety in the dark with a bunch of strangers." He lets out a groan. This is usually how it went. I'd suggest places until he'd figure one out on his own.
"I want pizza." He says and I can agree with him for once. Even though we have pizza every time we're together. We both know where to get the best pizza in town, but that meant leaving the house.
"Cheese or pineapple?" He asks but doesn't really care what I say because he'll just end up getting pineapple. He leaves the table to order and I hear the bell on the door ring. I look at the door and a tall girl with a tall boy both walk in. His hair is in a beanie and her hand is intertwined with his. I want to cover my face when they look for a table and chose the booth behind ours. Luke doesn't see me at first, but when he sits facing me in the booth his eyes immediately analyze me sitting. He looks emotionless as stares at me, no smile or frown. Michael sits in the booth covering Luke from my gaze.
"I got into an argument with AJ, she said pineapple is gross." Michael has a goofy smile as he laughs it off. He notices my open mouth in bewilderment and frowns.
"What's wrong?" He adds quickly, searching my face for emotion. I swallow and take a drink of my water.
"Nothing, just thinking." I cover up and for once he doesn't force an answer from me.
"AJ is pretty cute huh?" I change the subject, looking over at the girl with a bright red shirt and black hair.
"I guess, I've basically grown up with her, though." He's lived here his whole life, generations back I think.
"Yeah, so? Anything can happen." A loud laugh comes from the girl behind Michael, which I'm assuming is Luke's girlfriend. Girlfriend. I think about last night and wonder how he could keep a straight face. Michael scoffs and looks to the side.
"Why can't people just keep their laughter to a minimum?" Michael says, oblivious to the couple behind us.
"You're hangry." I comment, my stomach grumbling. On any occasion, Michael would be the one laughing at the top of his lungs, but if he's hungry there's no telling what he'll do.
"Shut up." He glares at me and I laugh, a little loud. My phone vibrates on the table, AJ leaving her post at the register to serve our pizza. I grab my phone, Michael too busy watching her with the only thing keeping him from happiness.
Luke:
Meet me in the bathroom
I frown his direct order taking me back a little. I thank AJ and serve myself a slice. He knows I saw it, so the question is: Do I meet him in the bathroom?
