Chapter 2

"Arina!"

"Arina?"

Voices kept calling to me. I felt myself being shook. My vision cleared up and I looked around. I was sitting on the floor, my back against my bed. Sage and Luna were staring at me.

"What?" I asked.

"What! What you ask?!" Luna scoffs.

"What she means it that you were screaming bloody murder and staring off into space for like an hour" Sage said.

"I was?" I asked.

"Yes!" Luna almost yelled. She took a deep breath closing her eyes and then looked at me. "Sorry, you just scared me."

"It's ok" I said smiling.

"What were you yelling about?" Sage said.

"I don't know... I don't remember" I explained.

"Sounds like a night terror but more intense" Sage said, brainy Sage returns.

"What's a night terror?" I asked quietly.

"Kinda like a nightmare but more severe" he said all to simply. I raised an eyebrow as if to say, 'that's all your gonna say'.

"Well I usually have to dumb it down so might as well just keep it dumb" he said shrugging.

"I'll let you two talk" Luna said making a quick exit. Great.

"I'm sorry" I said looking him in the eye.

"I know" he said sighing. "You just caught me at an off time and just... Yeah."

I laughed at the awkwardness of this. Soon enough, we both were laughing.

"I missed my smartie around" I said.

"Well what could you do without me?" he said smirking but I could tell he wanted to laugh.

"Don't get too cocky now" I said and we laughed.

"Arina, Arina, Arina!" I here Alex's nervous voice yell. I went out into the hall and saw him running full speed towards me. His red curly hair bouncing as he ran and his light green eyes full of fear.

"What's wrong Alex?" I asked.

"Come quick, quick come" he said out of breath. I felt like laughing but didn't.

We followed Alex out and ended up in one of our jeeps heading to New York. I could tell something big was up but Alex wouldn't say a word. Alex drove us down a street lined with stores. He parked and then hopped out of the jeep and began running.

We followed him into an alley and found a big fight going on. There were vampires and all sorts of supernatural there.

"Hey!" I yelled. Nothing. No reply whatsoever.

"Hello?" Sage tried.

Alex whistled loudly. That sure got everyone's attention.

"What's going on here? Break it up!" I said. People back away from another slowly. Then in seconds they vanished.

Stupid supernatural super speed.

Wow that was a mouthful of thoughts. I laughed at myself, oh great I'm talking to myself. I surveyed the place and the walls had indents in them. What really caught my attention was a body laying on the ground. We approached it and it was a girl around our age. She was alive but really beaten up.

"Get her to the jeep and we'll bring her back to the base" I instructed and Alex and Sage got to work.

Hours of waiting, the doctor at our base said she'd be fine but needs rest. I walked into where she was and studied her. She wasn't pale enough to be a vampire, if she was a werewolf she would have shifted and she would have ripped clothes. I didn't think she was a witch though but I had no idea.

It was strange, I couldn't identify what she was. She had medium length blonde hair, she was fit and I knew she was definitely not human. I jumped when she opened her eyes and screamed. Her eyes flaring, eyes that were almost orange.

"Hey, it's okay" I said trying to calm her. She stopped screaming and surveyed the place.

"Who are you?" she asked.

"My name is Arina, and yours?" I said calmly.

"Jasmine" she said eyeing me.

"May I ask what you are?" I said.

"What do you mean?" she said.

"I know you are not human, neither am I" I said.

"Fairy" she said hesitantly.

"I am part elf and part hunter" I explained.

"Hey Arina how's it- oh" Sage said walking in.

"Sage, this is Jasmine, she's a fairy" I introduced.

"Hey" Sage said smiling warmly.

"Hi?" Jasmine said.

"I'm Sage, a hunter" he said.

"I'm gonna to, I trust you will take care of her?" I said to Sage and he nodded.

I walked out and headed down the halls. What puzzled me was Jasmine said she was a fairy, but a part of me didn't believe her. Also, fairy's normal don't associate with vamps or any supernatural much either. So how does it explain her in that alley...?

My thoughts were interrupted when I bumped into someone. I saw blonde hair and a whole bunch of hunter gear, Theron.

"Oh, hey Arina" he said.

"Theron" I said holding back a smart remark.

"How are things?" he said. His green eyes showing no emotion.

"Fine" I said not bothering to hide the annoyance in my voice.

"I think we should discuss the leadership of the hunters" he said.

I sighed and turned to face him. "You know what Theron, you wanna lead so bad but reality is, you're just not good enough. You think I'm doing such a bad job, well according to everyone else i'm doing better than you!"

I spun around and left him standing there opened mouthed. He jut frustrates me and just wow, okay deep breaths Arina, I told myself.

I laid in my bed thinking so many things. The thought of me being a bad leader played through my head. What I'd that were true? I closed my eyes and tried to clam myself.

----

Chains bound my writs. I couldn't move. I didn't have the energy. I felt nothing, my body numb. No hope. I needed help, but all I could do was stare at the stone around me.

I just wished I could have helped my sister.

------

Thud.

I fell off my bed as I jerked away from those thoughts. What the heck? Ren? What? How?

"Arina you okay?" Sage said suddenly at my side.

"Yeah I'm fine, I think" I said.

"What's up? I here a noise and then saw you on the ground" he said.

"Just a bad vision of some sorts, again" I said my thoughts trailing off.

"Can you come with me to the elf lands tomorrow?" I asked.

"Of course" he said smiling.

"How's Jasmine?" I said.

"Doing okay, just shocked" he replied, "she keeps talking of actually going to the elf lands."

"Sage, your not suggesting what I think you are?" I said eyeing him.

"Maybe"

"She isn't coming, nope, nu-uh, no" I said.

He smiled evilly, "You know you'll give in"

Oh I hated when he was right.
