Chapter 1

"We just had a spotting!" someone yelled.

I went over to where he was sitting and looked at the letter. Apparently someone had spotted Red eyes near the border of King Edrick's land.

"Thank you, I will take it from here" I said and the elf boy nodded.

Over the months since the battle with Red Eyes, things have changed. Yet, I'm still deciding if it's for better or for worse.

After we found Red eyes was still alive, I suggested a peace treaty between hunters and elves so we could find him. I only wish I knew his name instead of calling him Red eyes.

Walking over to an open area I moved my arm around in a pattern. A small circle of magic appeared.

"Aylward" I instructed. This allowed me to talk with anyone at anytime. All I had to do was think of the person and say their name. Way better than cellphones.

"Yes?" I herd Aylward's voice say.

"Spotting at the border of Edrick's land" I said.

"Ok" was his reply and then the magic disappeared.

That's all I ever got anymore. One word answers. Aylward, once he was better, went back to the elf lands and has been there ever since. Sage is who knows where. Probably making potions or causing trouble somewhere. We 3 have split up ever since I said I liked being just friends with them. I didn't think it would offend them so much.

Walking down the empty halls of the base was weird. We lost most of the leaders, the hunters are pretty much just run by Theron, Alex, Luna and I. The other basses were abandoned and now this is the one and only base.

'Arina we need you in the computer room'- Luna

Her voice filled the walkie talkie's we use. I went down the halls to the computer room and Luna and Alex were there.

"What's up?" I asked.

Luna stood by her computer. Her blonde hair in a ponytail and her blue eyes starring at the screen.

"You said there was a spotting in the elf lands?" she said. I nodded. "Well for a second he came up on the camera in France. "

"That's not possible.." I said walking to the computer.

I was shocked when I saw the footage of him. She was right, unless that source was wrong, he is in two places at once.

"What the-?" I said but was cut off short when Luna began talking on her phone.

"We gotta go" she said after she was done.

"What is it?" I asked.

She shrugged and avoided my gaze, "Sage."

We went to central park New York, it was mostly empty since it was late in the afternoon. I saw blonde shaggy hair and knew it was Sage. He was arguing with a wizard.

"I don't have your money!" Sage yelled.

"What's going on here?" I asked.

The wizard tackled Sage to the ground and pinned him down. The wizard held his arm over Sage's throat.

"You brought the hunters!" the guy yelled.

"What's the problem?" I asked.

"This thing owes me money" the wizard said glaring at Sage.

"How much?" I asked.

"5,000" the wizard said. Oh Sage.

I reached into my bag and pulled out some cash I carried on me. Once I handed it to him he got off Sage and began counting. When he was done he nodded at me and left.

"What were you thinking?!" I yelled at Sage. We were back in the hunters base in the meeting room.

"I needed some herbs" he said shrugging.

"Sure and then to off and make a deal with a wizard like some drug dealer! You don't bargain with the wizards!" I said.

I remember how me and Sage used to talk. Him always making jokes and thinking the best of things. Everything was so much easier but now, look at us yelling.

"You don't even know what I was doing Arina! Stop assuming things!" he yelled, his blue eyes filled with anger and rage.

"Im not assuming things" I yelled back.

"You are and you're becoming just as bad of a controlling leader as Theron!" he said.

I had enough, I stormed out of that room and headed for my bedroom.

"Hey it's Luna"

"Come in" I said. Luna walked in with a tray of food. She was the best.

"So wanna talk?" she asked.

"Am I really that bad of a leader?" I asked.

"Well sometimes, but within reason. You just lost your parents and your trying to take the weight of the world on your shoulders. We are here to help too Arina" she said.

I sighed. I hated how right she was. "Thanks" I said quietly.

"What was he doing?" I found myself asking.

She sighed, "he was helping make medicines for humans."

The guilt consimed me. I felt so bad.

"You don't have to be here" I finally said after the silence subsided.

"Oh don't even go there Arina! I needed girl time, Alex can wait" she said laughing. Oh yeah, did I mention they are dating? Well I did now.

It was nice having her as a friend, she told the truth no matter how bad and honestly is what made our friendship last.

Tossing and turning, I laid in my bed. I couldn't sleep. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't. So I decided to get up and walk around. As I was walking around I here voices talking and decided to listen in.

"What's happened to her?" a voice said.

"She's not herself, you have to understand that Sage. She's someone new" another said.

"Your right Theron but she's not the best leader" Sage said quietly. Ouch Sage, ouch.

"Then perhaps we can take over instead of her?" Theron said.

"I don't know.." Sage said.

"It has to be done" Theron said.

I couldn't take it, I left. I didn't need to listen more to know they were talking about me. Going back to my bedroom, I laid down and the last thing I thought before I feel asleep was, if I really was that bad of a leader.

Strapped down to a table like a frog about to be dissected. I had no idea where I was. I tried moving but I couldn't, panic overwhelmed me.

"Now let's just see how this thing works..." a voice said. A light shone in my face.

I was scared. Looking at myself I didn't look like me. I have reptile like feet and my skin was weird. The only other time I looked like this was after I got stabbed.

I felt pain in my head. It felt like someone was hitting it repeatedly. I couldn't see anything, couldn't move.

"Now I don't get it? How can he have a third eye?" the voice said. Third eye? What the heck?

The pain returned but it was in my stomach. I felt something cutting me. I did the only thing I could.

I screamed.
