Chapter 9

“Hi” Leilani said.

For a moment, Edrick just stared at her and all Ren and I could do was watch to see what happened.

“Leilani…” Edrick said aloud as if trying out the name.

“Nadina named her” I said smiling a little.

“Ah…” Edrick said still in shock, “a beautiful name.”

“Thank you” Leilani said looking more awkward than shocked to meet her dad.

“You said she was the next heir so you can get off my back then” I said.

“Arina” Ren warned.

“What? It’s true…” I said slowly. However then I noticed that Edrick was hugging Leilani. It reminded me of the ‘Wizard of OZ’ in the sense the tin man does have a heart.

“I think I’ll walk around” I said, but I knew I was saying it more to myself than anyone else.

The castle throughout the whole time of the elves, has never changed. The castle itself represents the elven history. In a way, I guess it is like one of the Seven Wonders of the World to the elves. I wandered around, I guess I’ve been doing a lot of that lately. To be honest ever since the battle, everything has changed for me. I mean I found out I am part elf, met my parents who I thought to be dead, found two guys liked me and met siblings I never thought I had. I’m pretty sure not everyone can say they’ve done all those things. I sighed internally, I really had no idea what I was doing anymore. We’re supposed to find Red eyes but also find about more about Leilani.

“What’s wrong?” a small voice said. I turned and saw Bark looking at me with his big eyes and he just looked so cute.

“Nothing’s wrong Bark, I’m just thinking” I replied smiling.

“What was Hunter thinking about?”

“Leilani, Red Eyes” I stated.

“Oh, Bark can’t help with those two but Bark did see weird lady walking off without anyone knowing” he said.

“What lady?”

“Umm she looked not like elves or hunters but something else…”

“Jasmine?” I guessed.

“Yes!” Bark exclaimed.

“Show me where she went” I said.

Bark began hopping off and I learned how to keep up with his fast pace. Soon enough we were back on the ground and heading a little ways into the woods. I hid behind a tree as I began to hear voices.

“Fine I shall take matters into my own hands” a deep voice said.

“Sorry” someone else mumbled. Jasmine? “Bye I guess…”

Guess I only got the end of their conversation, who was she talking to? “Jasmine” I called.

“Oh Arina!” she exclaimed.

“What are you doing out here?”

“Fresh air” she replied.

“Were you just talking to someone…?”

“No, that’s ridiculous” she said laughing.

“Okay… well, we should get back to the castle…” I said unsure.

“Okay” she said all too happy now.

We walked back to the castle in silence. I was wondering what she was doing out in the middle of nowhere, so secretive and I just didn’t understand. What was she keeping from us? All I know is that I don’t trust her.
