Manon's POV

My body was on fire.  Absolute pain beyond anything I've ever experienced before.  My blood felt like it was boiling under my skin, and my mind could only comprehend three things.  Heat, pain, and Ronan.  The burning fire within myself needed to be put out.  Another wave hit me, making me contort in pain.

Heat.  Pain.  Ronan.

I breathed deeply through my nose, biting my lip in order to hold back a scream.

Heat.  Pain. Ronan.

The heat wave didn't lessen, the pain growing inside of me, making me bite harder.  Sweat surrounded me, and made the sheets of the bed damp.  I pulled back the thin sheet, taking off my shirt and pants, leaving me in underwear and a bra.  The heat only seemed to get stronger.

Heat.  Pain  Ronan.

I covered my face with a pillow trying to hold back a scream.

Heat.  Pain.  Ronan.

I grabbed at the sheets, attempting once again to contain myself.

Heat.  Pain.  Ronan.

My efforts faltered and I screamed as pain overtook my system.  My eyes streamed tears as my body shook on the bed.

Within seconds Ronan burst into the room.  As his eyes scanned me they grew dark and he let out a possessive growl.  He pulled me into his arms, the coolness of him helping take away some of the pain.

He picked me up, rushing down the stairs to the couch.  I clung to him, trying to get closer to him.  I needed the pain to go away.

As he sat on the couch, our torsos smashed together.  He was breathing deeply, trying to control himself.  "Make it go away."  My voice croaked and cracked.  A growl erupted from within him.

"No."  His voice was deep and raspy, his wolf took over.  He pulled me into his chest, one hand in my hair, holding my head, and the other wrapped around my back.  He cradled me into him, holding my head against his chest.  I whimpered as the heat wave started to grow again.

"We want to keep you safe.  We want to keep you happy."  His wolf continued, his lips by my ear, whispering.  I butted in, sudden anger at his words.  "If you wanted me to be happy you'd help me."

Another growl emerged from his chest, the vibrations soaring through me.  "You would not be happy. You'd be satisfied today, but tomorrow you'd hate Ronan and I even more than before." I tried to move in his arms, but he did not let me.  His hands held me firm against him.  His hand in my hair turned my head to face his.

Ronan's, well his wolf's, pitch black orbs stared into mine intently.  "You do not want this.  You do not want us.  You only want relief."  His eyes that before seemed emotionless, almost angry, were now looking at me in sympathy.
