I open my eyes and look around the room. The room seemed familiar, but I can't seem to know why. I look to my right to see those brown eyes. I smile and extend my hand to him. "Jace." He smiles and holds my hand. The warmth of his hand warms me up. I sit up without taking my eyes off of him. "Where am I?" I ask him.
"You're home now." He whispers. Home?
"Where exactly is home?" I question. He kisses my hand.
"At my palace." He replies. I get off the large bed, and pain shoots through me. My balance leaves me, and I see myself falling. Thankfully Jace caught me in his strong arms.
"What just happened?" I ask him. He puts me back on the bed.
"You were in a battle fighting these shifters, and they managed to shoot you in the leg." He explains. I look at him, confused.
"Battle?" I rake through my mind, and I don't see it. He pats my hand.
"You are a born warrior. Born to kill those semi-humans that can transform into their spirit animal-" I stop him.
"I know what those pesky things are, and did to you." I look into his eyes. "What I don't remember is that battle?"
"Well, some shifters were seen, and I sent you to fight them. Apparently, they had guns, which may I tell you are not common here, and just shot you. I was going to take the bullet for myself, but I was too late. They got you before I could do anything. They are the reason why you are here with an injured leg..." I gently cup his face.
"It's alright, Jace. They may have wounded my body, but they have not wounded my anger towards them." He smiles sweetly.
"You are so brave." He kisses my forehead.
"I am a warrior. I have to be brave." I state. He chuckles.
"Of course." He replies. "Stay in bed, and don't move. I'll be back at night." He helps me lay back down, and I never keep my eyes off of him. He lets my hand go, but I grab it once more.
"I love you, Jace." I softly admit. He smiles.
"Same here." He kisses my hand and walks out. I stare at the ceiling and hear footsteps walk close to me.
"Who's there?" I question.
"My name is Lily madam." A girl introduces. I look at the girl. Her mask covers her face, and I instantly find myself entranced by it. I sit up and smile at her.
"Where you here the whole time?" I ask her. She nods. "Isn't Jace the most wonderful person you've ever met?" I question her.
"I have to agree with you, madam." She says with a monotone voice. I inspect her. She calls me madam even though she's probably older than me, by a couple of years.
"You may leave now, and call the medical to come here," I order. She bows and walks away. I noticed she glared at me as she walked away. I guess she thought I couldn't see it, but I did. I choose to ignore it, at least for now. I felt an inkling of guilt for talking to her that way. It perplexed me, though. Why should I feel that way? I mean, Jace treats her the same way, but is it correct? I shake my head. Of course, it is. A knocking sound takes me out of my trance. "Come in!" I shout. I watch as the door opens, and an older man walks in. He bows his head as he walks towards me. I notice he's holding a bag with him. "Who are you?" I ask him. He puts his bag down on my nightstand and doesn't look at me.
