"Not if you follow the path" coach said grinning. His eyes had gained an amused glint as if he knew something we did not. Suddenly a sharp whistle tore through the air and in an instant our group jumped into action and took off into the woods in a dead sprint. I dont know why we were running whether it was to get away from him or because we just wanted to get this over with...
If we had stayed but a moment longer we would have seen the small nod the Couch had given in the direction of one of the school towers. We would have seen the dark haired being leaning out of one of the windows watching us. We would have known to be a bit more careful with who we trust. I would've been nore careful.
Rule number 6: Careful what you wish for because wishes don't always follow the rules.

Chapter 12
Finally after what felt like years we made it back to the field where couch stood waiting. Full of scratches and bearing a slightly limp after tripping over a tree root I joined the line of students once again taking my place next to Tommy. "I hate him" Tommy whispered panting heavily. "Yeah, me too..."
"Now I can see that most of you are out of shape... " Coach began his speech "My mission is to get you all ready for the tournaments held in Five months time. This is where the school will score you based on your performance and you will receive your ranking" coach bellowed as he made eye contact with each and every one of us.
"I'm sure that as First years you have not yet heard of the Raking systems we have here" he bellowed. "We have five Rankings. We also have five different year classes we offer here at Black Mountain. After all five years are up you are sent to your base" he started pacing as his eyes gained a new hue to them. He almost seems to have gotten lost in the memories. "If you manage to rank up sooner than the five years then you're the best of the best and you go to a special base" his voice seemed to loose it's spark. I don't think I want to rank up quicker then...
When his eyes met mine it seemd luke he was speaking directly to me. "It's a fight to the death or at least near death" he smiled "So you have to fight or you stand the chance of never waking up again" he trailed off "Black Mountain doesn't have time for the weak" he finished though his eyes never left mine. Suddenly I was reminded of something Aros had told me years ago.
"Never show soneone who whishes to intimidate or scare you that they have because they will see it as a weaknes and use it against you to try and hurt you even more"
I've been hurt snd used quite enough thank you. So instead of shifting my eyes from his in submission to his stare I held eye contact until his eyes left mine as he moved on to Tommy and then the boy next to him. Suddenly I felt like I could breath again. I hadn't even realised that I'd been holding my breath. "Well that was intense" Tommy whispered. "Yeah"
