My Superman

Chapter 11

I was surrounded by people crowding around me as I opened my eyes. The Sun rays burning my eyes, I used my hands to block. As soon as I got myself together, I fell back to the ground.  I gave a scream as I held my ankle in pain. Tear drops rolled down my cheek. I was brought to see the school nurse, but the school nurse got me to visit the doctor and I did. That evening, I got my ankle bandaged, it was so difficult to walk with a sprained ankle. It all started when my heart was pumping too hard during a court game, and there were still too many things on my mind. As soon as I landed, after jumping to get the ball, I was pushed and fell to the solid, rough ground. I didn't know what happened next, everything started turning, and then it was pitch dark. My ankle, having a slight turn the other way. I also scraped my elbow. 

The next morning, I came to school with the help of my mum, driving me to school instead of taking a bus. Also, I had really caring friends who helped me carry my books to classes. Before Math class started, Dann was surprised to see my bandaged ankle. He let out a small giggle and his smirk turned into a 'serious' smile. "How cute." I thought to myself.

"Hey babydoll, you okay?" he asked with his puppy eyes.

I turned away as I said "Leave me alone" 

By then, Ms Kay had already entered the class with stacks of papers with her, oh and she also had a few boys lined up with 3 boxes of our thick, pink files. 

The whole class groaned as we knew something big and serious is coming up, from her, furthermore, her lessons are indescribably boring that we could actually fall asleep. We got back our Math files, with of course, torn worksheets due to our carelessness. 

"Alright class! Majority of you have missing worksheets in your file! I gave you an extra day to check your file before you hand it up, but all of you chose to take it for granted! Therefore, detention for all of you. Don't worry, all the worksheets in your file, will be given, take the ones you lost and do it all over again. I will collect it on our next lesson." 

Most of my classmates rolled their ferocious eyes on her. And yes, being the most rowdy class in our cohort, the whole class had to go for detention, literally. That includes me too. 

Straight after school, we had a 30 minute break before detention. All of us rushed down to the canteen, obviously for food. We actually ate like starving cavemen and cavewomen. As though we have never tasted food for a century, if that's possible.

After eating, we gathered and went to disturb some ongoing classes around the school. Our laughter were so loud that we got scolded by one of the teachers. Dann was dared to blow a kiss to one of the students, and being the daring person that he is, he blew a kiss. The whole class we were distracting, laughed at the student he blew a kiss to. And so did our class. 

After a while, we did a time check, and our eyes stared at each other. We were 15 minutes late! We raced 4 levels down the flight of stairs, stompings after stompings on the staircase. Distracting every level of the school. We giggled a little, and then got into serious business. We finally reached the detention room, and apologised for the delay, although we never did cared whether we were late or not, as long as we got off the hook for being late.

"Take a seat, please." the discipline master instructed.

We did as we were told. We immediately took out our pink files, for fear of getting scolded by the discipline master.

"Here's the stack of worksheets Ms Kay had left for you guys. Please come up one by one and take the worksheets you need."  

At first, we never expected Mr Chen, our discipline master, to be in charge of detention. But the least, we could be grateful for was that it wasn't our boring Ms Kay. 

It took us about an hour to complete our work, but it was all worth it, since  we weren't given any homework, thank god!

We were dismissed, but none of us were heading home. Some, into serious trouble with people outside.
