I felt myself slam flat into the ground; my back smashed against the grass. I couldn't move, I felt too weak. All the breath seemed to have been knocked out of me; my head was swimming so badly I felt as though the ground beneath me was swaying like the deck of a ship. My bones and arms ached worse than they had in the graveyard and my cut felt even deeper. Tears filled my eyes as I sobbed and sobbed, I couldn't hold them in, it was all too much. Harry was still clutched to Cedric's body. I couldn't get off the ground, I couldn't lift myself. I waited for someone to do something... For something to happen.

There were voices everywhere, footsteps, screams... I remained lying on the ground, crying and crying. Dumbledore was crouched over Harry. The dark shadows of a crowd of people pressed in around us, pushing nearer; I felt the ground beneath my head reverberating with their footsteps. We had come to the edge of the maze. I could see the stands above me.

Harry let go of the cup, but he clutched onto me and Cedric even more tightly. Even Harry's slightest touch made my bones feels as though they may break.

"He's back" my sore throat croaked "Voldemort is back"

"What's going on? Whats happened?"

The face of Cornelius Fudge swam in and out of my focus; he looked white and appalled.

"My god - Diggory!" He whispered "Dumbledore - he's dead!"

The words repeated, the shadowy figures pressing in on us gasped it to those around us. Dumbledore bent down and, with extraordinary strength for a man so old and thin, raised Harry from the ground, and set him on his feet. Harry swayed through my focus, my eyelids were getting heavier, my head pounded and my bones wanted to crumble to dust. The crowd around us jostled, fighting to get closer.

"What happened to Chloe?" Dumbledores voice spoke softly to Harry.

"He- he used the cruciatus curse" Harry spoke quickly, sobbing "He used her blood to get his body back"

The only thing I heard and saw before I passed out in immense pain was the flicker of icy grey eyes staring into mine, screaming, demanding to know who had hurt me and begging with every inch of his life for me to stay awake.

-

I had woken up later in the hospital wing, my arm had been bandaged, yet all of me still ached. I heard whispering around me.

"You'll wake her if you don't shut up!"

my eyes drifted open to see Draco and Daphne sat at the end of my bed, they hadn't noticed me waking up. I cleared my throat... It still hurt beyond any pain I've ever felt.

"Freckles!" Draco's eyes darted towards me and a half smile appeared on his face "your brother told us what happened-"

"Did he tell you that your father turned up to watch the show?" I muttered, my voice still not back to its full strength after all the screaming.

"Yeah- he did... I'm so sorry, I didn't know... I had no idea at all!"

"I believe you Draco... And I don't blame you"

"You terrified me, Freckles... I thought you were..." He gulped "dead"

"So did for a while" I attempted to laugh but all that came out was a dry cough. "Where's Harry?"

"He's With Dumbledore" Draco said and then he dived into the story of who out my name in the Goblet of fire and what exactly happened after I had passed out.

-

"He suffered very little then" said Cedric's mother when Harry had told her how Cedric had died "and after all, Amos... He died just after he won the tournament. He must have been happy"

"You take this" Harry muttered, giving them the sack of gold we had won in the Tournament "it should have been Cedric's"

She backed away from him "oh no, it's yours dear, we couldn't... You keep it"

Harry returned to Gryffindor tower and I went to the Slytherin common room for the first time since the Tournament. From what Draco and Daphne had told me, Dumbledore had spoken to the school at breakfast. He merely requested no one question Harry and I about what had happened that night. Most people, I noticed, were avoiding my eyes. Some whispered behind their hand while I passed. It was with a heavy heart that night that I packed my trunk in my dormitory, on the night before returning to privet drive. I was dreading the leaving feast, which was usual a cause for celebration, when the winner of the inter house championship would be announced.

I had avoided being in the great hall when it was full, preferring to eat when it was nearly empty, to avoid any fellow students. When Draco, Daphne and I entered the hall, we saw at once that the usual decorations we're missing. The great hall was Normally decorated with winning house's colours. Tonight, however, there were black drapes on the wall behind the staff table. I knew instantly they were a mark of respect for Cedric.

"The end" said Dumbledore, looking around at them all "of another year"

He paused, and his eyes fell upon the Hufflepuff table. Theirs had been the most subdued table before he had got to his feet, and theirs were the saddest and palest faces in the hall.

"There is much I would like to say to you all tonight" said Dumbledore "but I must first acknowledge the loss of a very fine person, who should be sitting here" - he gestures towards Hufflepuff table- "enjoying our feast with us. I would like you all to stand and raise your glasses, to Cedric Diggory"

We did it, all of us; the benches scraped as everyone in the hall stood, and raised their goblets, and echoed in one loud, low, rumbling voice "Cedric Diggory"

"Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort"

A panicked whisper swept the great hall at these words. People were staring at Dumbledore in disbelief, in horror. He looked perfectly calm as he watched us all muttering amongst one another.

"Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory"
