Snow was falling thickly upon the castle and its grounds now and the house elves down in the kitchens were outdoing themselves with a series of rich, warming stews and savoury puddings every dinner time; only Fleur Delacour seemed to be able to complain.
"It is too 'eavy, all zis 'Ogwarts food" we heard her say grumpily, as we left the Great Hall behind her "I will not fit into my dress robes!"
"Ooooh, there's a tragedy!" I whispered snappily "she really thinks a lot of herself doesn't she?"
"Chloe - who are you going to the ball with?" Draco asked.
He's been springing this question on me for ages at random times. He's been obsessed to know. Blaise told me that he's been hoping that if he springs it on me when I am off guard, I will be startled into admitting I wasn't going with anyone at all. However, I merely frowned and said "I'm not telling you"
Harry told me that we had gotten a letter from Sirius, so I broke off from my friends and sat down at the Gryffindor table to read it.
"Dear Harry and Chloe,
Congratulations on getting past the dragons, whoever
put your names in the goblet shouldn't be feeling too
happy right now!
I'm impressed. Don't get complacent though. You've only
done one task; whoever put you in for the Tournament
has got plenty of opportunity if they're trying to hurt you.
Keep your eyes open - particularly when
Karkaroff is around - and concentrate on staying out of trouble!
Keep in touch, I still want to hear about everything unusual.
Sirius.""He sounds like Moody" said Harry quietly, tucking the letter away inside his robes.
"But he's right, Harry" said Hermione "you have still got two tasks left and you really ought to look at that egg"

I awoke very suddenly on Christmas Day. Wondering what had caused my abrupt return to consciousness, I opened my eyes and saw something with very large, round green eyes staring back at me in the darkness, so close we were almost nose to nose.
"Dobby!" I yelled, scrambling away from the elf so fast I almost fell out of bed "don't do that!"
"Dobby is sorry!" Squeaked Dobby anxiously "Dobby is only wanting to wish Chloe Potter 'merry Christmas' and bring her a present, miss!"
"It's ok" I sighed, still breathing rather faster than usual "just- just prod me or something, don't bend over me like that..."
I pulled back the hanging of my four poster bed. My yell had awoken Daphne, Pansy and Milicent. All of them were peering through the gaps in their own hangings, heavy eyed and messy haired.
"Can Dobby give Chloe Potter her present?" He squeaked tentatively.
"Course you can" I grinned "Er... I've got something for you too"
That's was a lie; I hadn't bought anything for Dobby at all, but I quickly opened my trunk, and pulled out a particularly knobbly pair of socks. They were my oldest and foulest green socks.
"Sorry, I forgot to wrap them..."
But the small elf was utterly delighted.
"Socks are Dobby's favourite, favourite clothes miss!" He said, ripping off his odd ones and pulling on his new ones "but miss, they has made a mistake in the shop, Chloe Potter, they is giving you two the same!"
