Snuggled in the mountain of pillows on the mat, me and Joey continue to watch the movie. There are some catfights once in a while but we just laugh it off.
We started talking about the movie and several random stuff as the rain just keeps pouring harder and harder. It's starting to feel really chilly.
Due to the temperature, I buttoned my baseball jersey instead of keeping it open and having my cropped top exposed. It somehow protects my belly from getting cold. It worked pretty good for a few minutes but it never really satisfied me.
I kept warming my hands and rubbing my arms trying to keep myself warm. I could handle it though. Joey asked, "Hey, you feeling cold?"
I see concern in his eyes which surprises me and I reply, "Yeah, it's quite cold, but I can handle it. It's raining so hard."
He stands up and tells me to wait for him. I just nod and watch the movie again. He comes back holding out to me a gray hoodie; he hands it to me and says, "Here, wear it first. I think it's big enough to keep you warm."
I want to take it but I struggle with words on how to accept it. I suddenly felt shy, like I was shrinking. Instead I say, "Nah, you can take it. I'm good." I hug the pillows.
"You're stubborn." Joey acknowledges and removes the pillows I am hugging. He says, "Raise your arms, princess." I don't know why I did as told.
I watch him as he puts the hoodie on me. "You're worse than my nieces, at least they know how to dress up on their own." He jokes. I stand up as I fix it only to realize how huge it is on me.
"Joey, it's huge. I mean, look at me; I'm drowning in this!" I complain as he laughs at me again. "Sab, you look like a dwarf. What the heck. You're so cute and tiny!"
He falls on the pillows as he laughs. I ask, "Whose is this anyway? Is it yours?" I had a feeling it was and he rightfully proves so by saying, "Yup, I have a lot of clothes here. Matthias let's me sleep here once in a while. I practically live here already. I got a room to myself upstairs, well that was practically the guest room but I'll take it."
"It smells so freaking good." I sigh. He smirks at me and says, "Yeah? You know, princess, if that was your way of telling me I smelled good, then thank you."
I frown and say, "Boooooo, you suck," as I give him a thumbs down. As I make my way to sit down again and finish the movie, Joey asks, "So, you've got a older brother, right?"
"Yup, an overly protective one. Was Matthias ever protective of you?" I ask back. He nods and says, "Yes, I guess. He has his ways and I know he'd do anything to keep me safe. You're just two?"
And he shots another bullet at my heart again. I look down and say, "Well, yeah. Uhm, we're just two." I swear I almost said, just two now, but thankfully I didn't.
As he assesses me, he asks again, "So, uhm, could I ask you something?" I turn to him and notice how close he is to me. He's now leaning into me and his dace is just a few inches from my face.
"Ofcourse, but that doesn't guarantee I'll be answering, Joey." I respond as I look him directly in the eyes. He starts and asks, "What's the real reason you moved here? I heard you're voice crack earlier. You had to move here ever since what?"
He's no longer the irritating dooface who wanted to annoy me and embarrassed me. He's asking me so sincerely as a beautiful person who wants to get to know me. I answer, "Joey, I..."
I don't know why but all of a sudden I had the urge to tell him all about it. I don't know where this courage is coming from. I start and say, "It was ever since my d..."
