Chapter 10

RECAP: Lauren is introduced in the story. A lot story exchanging takes place.

'How's everything going? ' I said.

'It is coming together. It is a lot of effort to make a serum like that. You should at least have a backup plan.' Matthew said.

'It is either this or the original plan and I am not sure that I like the original plan.'

'Change does not come without sacrifice, keep that in mind. You of all people should know that.'

'I know.' I just don't want to lose any more people than I have. I have paid a heavy price for being in this war. A war that could have been less devastating. We were used as pawns for an experiment for crying out loud.

'I am very close to finishing it, still don't be completely dependent on this. I also wanted to test this on someone so that we can be positive that it works.'

'And who are we going to test this on?' I said.

'That is for you to find out?' he said.

'I will do it. I have nothing to lose.' Peter said.

'You sure have changed a lot Peter but I hope it doesn't come to that. Now that it is settled, we have other set problems we need to take care of.' I said.

'I know this is a lot to take in Lauren but you need to decide. We need as much help as possible.' I said.

'I need time to think. Give me a day and I will tell you my decision.' Lauren said.

I nod. Was inviting her a mistake?

'Tris, it's been so long since I last saw you alone. You are always in the presence of GDs. I came to know that your friend Uriah has recovered. Good to know, we don't want to lose people like you. Otherwise the whole purpose of this will be destroyed. I suggest that you keep your distance from your friends. I don't want your life to be in jeopardy.' David says.

That last part put me off. It seemed some kind of warning. Does he sense that something is wrong? Let's just hope that he doesn't have a clue but to be honest that could our biggest mistake, underestimating our opponent. I have to be more careful from now onwards.

'Hey.' A pair of arms wrap around my waist.

'Hey.' I reply softly. I turn around and see the same pair of dark blue eyes that I fell in love with.

He presses his lips softly on my lips. It makes me feel lighter, better. He breaks away.

'What is wrong? You seem a bit off.' He says.

'That is the wrong question to ask. You should instead ask, is anything right?' I smile.

'Aah. This is much better. You should smile more often or you will look older than you are. Maybe you will be able cross that age gap between us, if you worry so much.' He says.

'Ha, ha. That was so funny.' I roll my eyes.

'That was the whole purpose.' He laughs.

'Caleb, how could you do this to me? I put my trust in you after all you did to me. It is true people never change! You won't stop hurting me, would you Caleb?' I yell at him.

I throw the piece of paper I was holding at him.

He comes close to me.

'Don't touch me Caleb. I am not your sister anymore. I thought that GD is just a term but you proved me wrong. Goodbye Caleb' I say.

A/n: Guys it has been awfully long. I want to complete this story because it is my first. I know this update was supposed to be done long ago but I was just stuck on how to move.

P.S. - I would now continue in tris pov because the story will be better in her pov.
