Aerlinniel POV

The Dwarves, Bilbo, and I are sitting waiting. I can hear Smaug destroying the town from here. I try to keep the memories out of my mind and instead think of the few Dwarves that were left behind. I hope that they are alive. And I hope Legolas got out of there before the Dragon came.

A loud noise echoes and I jump up in surprise.

"What was that? What happened?" Oin questions.

"It fell. I saw it." Bilbo says.

The Dragon fell? Is it dead?

"It's dead. Smaug is dead!" Bilbo exclaims.

"By my beard! I think he's right! Look there! The ravens of Erebor are returning to the mountain!" Gloin agrees happily.

"Aye. Word will spread. Before long every soul in Middle-earth will know, the Dragon is dead!" Balin says and the dwarves laugh in glee.

Tauriel POV

It is now light out and I am helping the two young girls look for their father.

They call out for his name.

"DA!"

"DA!"

"DA!"

"Tauriel." I hear Kili say and I turn to look at him.

"Kili, come on! We're leaving." One of the Dwarves yell.

"They are your people, you must go." I tell him looking at him sadly, then walk past him.

"Come with me. I know how I feel, I'm not afraid. You make me feel alive." He says to me and I turn away.

"I can't." I tell him.

He grabs my arm, then says something in Dwarvish.

"Tauriel, amralime. (Tauriel, my love.)"

Hearing this, I look at Kili, shocked.

"I don't know what that means." I say and he smiles.

"I think you do."

I smile and begins to lean toward Kili, but I then sense Legolas behind me. I straighten up and make my face blank.

"Hîr nín, Legolas. (My Lord, Legolas.)"

"Maewado i Naug. Boe i nadh egeno. (Take your leave of the Dwarf. You are needed elsewhere.)" Legolas says to me.

I look at Kili for a few more seconds, then begin to turn away. Kili turns to go to the boat then pauses and turns back around. He takes my hand and places his stone into it, folding my fingers closed over it. I gasp and look at him as he gets close to my face and holds my hands to his heart.

"Keep it. As a promise." He says to me and smiles. I smile back.

Kili then runs toward the boat. I look down at the stone in my hand, then look after Kili and the dwarves in the boat. My eyes water, I wish I could go with him. Kili looks back at me for several moments, then begins rowing.

Legolas POV

"You saw something out there." Tauriel says to me as we walk through Laketown.

"The Orc I pursued out of Laketown. I know who he is. Bolg, a spawn of Azog the Defiler. A warg pack was waiting for him on the outskirts of Esgaroth. They fled into the north. These orcs were different from the others. They wore a mark I had not seen for a long time. The mark of Gundabad."

Tauriel stops in shock and turns to me.

"Gundabad?" She questions.

"An orc-stronghold in the far north of the Misty Mountains." I tell her.

An Elf from the Woodland-Realm rides up on a horse and addresses me.

"Hîr nín, Legolas, Celin 'winiath o adar lín. Cân i hi danwenidh na le. (My Lord Legolas, I bring word from your Father. You are to return to him immediately.)" He says.

"Tolo, Tauriel. (Come, Tauriel.)" I say to her.

"Hîr nín. Edlennen Tauriel. (My Lord, Tauriel is banished.)" The Elf tells me.

"Edlennen? (Banished?)" I question, shocked. "You may tell my father: If there is no place for Tauriel, there is no place for me."

"Legolas. It is your King's command." Tauriel says.

"Naw aran nín, mal ú-gân innas nín. (Yes, he is my King. But he does not command my heart.)"

I turn and walk away from the Elven messenger.

"I ride north. Will you come with me?" I ask Tauriel.

"To where?" She questions.

"To Gundabad."
