Today I'm surprising Sums by setting up Brax's room, and I hopefully want to achieve that while she's at work for the next eight hours. Sums had been going through catalogues, marking each piece of furniture she wanted for the nursery, she also picked out a traffic theme. Her list was set out easy enough for me to understand each and every single item on there.
What she thinks is, that we are going to go out next weekend to pick it all up. Then she wants me to put everything together while she watches, those were her words. What she doesn't know is, that yesterday while she was shopping with Katie, I had already picked up everything. The cot, chest of drawers, the change table, the matching rocking chair, all in a nice dark wood. Also, all the toys and ornaments she wanted to decorate with, and the linens for the cot.
I've recruited Kaleb, Nathan and Adam to help with painting and putting everything together. They weren't that happy to be starting at 7am but it's for Sums, so they don't mind. I looked around Brax's plain white room, and prayed we can get it all done on time.
"So what colours did you pick?" Kaleb said as he walked into the room, with Adam behind him.
"Green, blue, black and a bit of white." I already envisioned it in my head as to how it will end up looking. Green on the lower half, blue on the top, and a black border seperating the two, that will look like a road. On top of the road along the wall that doesn't have the window, door or robe, will have Braxton in big red and orange letters. Each letter is made out of wood and will be attached to the wall, so it looks like his name is jumping off the wall.
"Nate's just bringing up the paint sheets, we should have the painting done by lunchtime." Adam smiled as he waved a paint roller around.
"Yeah, that's the plan, thanks again guys for helping out." I gave them all a big grin, as Nate walked in and started to spread the sheets over the carpet. I also got them a few cartons of beer for helping, which they will probably start drinking soon.
"No worries man, we'd do anything for you and Sums, so let's get this paint rolling." Adam chuckled and then rolled the rolling brush over Nate's ass when he was bending over. Those two are funny, always brightens the day when they muck around with each other.
"Quit it, no flirting in the baby's room." Nate laughed and pinched Adam's ass on the way over to the paint cans. Adam rolled his eyes and saluted him, Kaleb and I were trying to contain our laughter.
We started with the blue and green, deciding to leave the black road until both coats are done first. It took a couple hours to get that done, and then Nate started on the black border, with Kaleb following him with the second coat. By the time it was 11, we stopped for a lunch break, that also gave time for the paint to dry, with the help of the heater Kaleb grabbed from the house we are currently renovating.
"Well the hard bit is out of the way." Kaleb said as he stretched his arms behind his head. Nate was leaning back in his chair with his eyes shut and Adam was drawing some cars on the letters for Brax's name.
