"Ahoy hoy" Mia answered

"Hey girl, do I have news for you!" I stated playfully

"Ohhh let me guess" laughed Mia "You're pregnant with Channing Tatum's baby... NO NO! You're pregnant with Channing's TWINS!"

"HA HA" I wailed sarcastically. "Not exactly. But close! Taylor Lautner's Twins!" I laughed

"Sweet!" exclaimed Mia "That works perfectly in line with my master plan to steal Taylor's heart!"

"You wouldn't dare steal my man from under me Mia Metropolis!! Whether it's Taylor Lautner or not" I playfully taunted.

"Damn morals" laughed Mia "what's up?"

"Jessica on another rampage"

"Oh, what has Madam Miserable done this time?"

"Only sent your best friend to America!!"

"What?!"

"Yup, and not next week or next month, try tomorrow"

"Tomorrow? What? Belle, What?"

I explained what had happened with Jessica in detail to Mia - not that there was much to explain.

"So she just rips a hole in my world by stealing my best friend away to another COUNTRY and you won't let me give her a piece of my mind?" Mia asked infuriated with rage

"ha ha ha that won't be necessary Mia." I laughed, I knew this was Mia's way of expressing her concern.

Mia and I met in Kindergarten. There I was, sipping on my juice box minding my own business when a boy twice my size walked up to me, towered over me and tried to take my juice box from my hand. "No!" I squealed as he pushed me to the ground, juice spraying over my favourite 'my little unicorn' t-shirt and drenching my sandy blonde hair.

I lay on the ground crying, covering my face with my hand as I wait for him to strike again.

"Hey!" I hear a voice yell toward me. I remove my hand from my face and see the boy fall to the ground alongside me. "Rack off!" the voice yelled.

I look toward the voice but the sun hits my eyes. I squint, trying to see who the voice belonged to. A figure moves in front of the sun, shading my eyes. I see a girl, only my age. Her olive skin, brown hair and deep brown eyes are striking as she reaches her hand out for mine.

"You okay?" she asked as she helped me to my feet.

"Thank you" my quiet voice murmured as I looked down at my favourite t-shirt with a falling bottom lip.

"Hey, its okay" she sympathized. "I have a spare top in my bag. Mum always packs me one. You can have it" she took my hand and walked me to the neat row of backpacks within the school foyer. Each with their own pigeon hole and name tag. "Mia" the name tag read at the pigeon hole that housed a blue backpack. As she unzipped it I could see a toy GI Joe figurine hiding within.

"Here" she said as she passed me the t-shirt. "It's one of my favourties". I slid the t-shirt over the top of the now sticky pink unicorn tee and looked down at my chest. Painted across the t-shirt were the letters T-M-N-T. I recognized it from my cousin Jason's bedroom.

"That's better" she said looking me up and down.

"You like this stuff?" I asked pointing to my chest.

"Yeah, it's the best! Four turtles who eat pizza and kill bad guys! What could be better than that?!" She grinned. It was my first encounter with a tom-boy and I enjoyed every second of it.
