"I'm going to hunt him down and kill him!" Chase yelled as she shook with anger. "And you say you love her right Caleb?! You did this to her you fucking moron!" he said as he looked into Caleb's shocked eyes as he sat motionless on the couch.
"He didn't know!" I exclaimed to Chase in an effort to defuse the situation. "How could anyone have any idea of what we have been through?"
"She's right Chase. Caleb couldn't have known that this was going on. He was selfish in his actions, yes, but I doubt he would have leaked information to the tabloids if he had any idea he'd put us all in danger" Mia argued.
"He's still a moron" Chase shot as he shook his head in frustration.
"Chase!" I exclaimed trying to stop him from making Caleb feel worse than he already would be.
"No, he's right" Caleb whispered with a shake in his voice. "I'm a complete moron. I'm so sorry for putting you all through this." His head fell into his hand as he let out a large sob causing us to shoot looks between ourselves in sympathy for a grown man reduced to tears in our presence.
Chase's face fell and creased at the brow as he walked over to where Caleb sat. With a hand resting on his shoulder, he softly added "Alright man, no need to cry about it. What's done is done. She's safe now. Let's be happy about that."
I knew that this was Chase's way of sympathizing with Caleb. Even if he did have an odd way of showing it.
"We're ready when you are Mr Thomas" chimed a voice from the living room doorway. James, the leader of the black jackets stood waiting for a response.
"Thank you James" Chase replied before tapping Caleb on the back "Come on, my men will take you wherever you want to go" he soothed causing Caleb to stand and wipe the tears from his sad eyes.
Before Chase could say another word, Caleb moved into him and surrounded him in a hug before whispering an apology and thanking him for his kind gesture. Chase stood wide eyed with his hands held in the air, shocked by Caleb's actions. He turned his eyes to mine as if asking me what he should do. With a single nod of my head, I urged him to embrace Caleb's gesture of appreciation and sorrow. Chase reluctantly patted Caleb on the back for a moment before speaking.
"Okay, yup, all good buddy" Chase stated as he tried to escape Caleb's grip.
Caleb moved back before turning and leaning down to engulf me in an awkward, half standing, half sitting embrace – squeezing me tightly before whispering "I'm just so so sorry Belle."
"It's okay Caleb" I whispered as I gave him a slight squeeze back in acknowledgement of his pain.

Once Caleb had left and the black leather men were strategically placed surrounding the house, Chase and I laid comfortably in bed looking at the heart pendant that I held up in front of our faces.
"Is it weird that I just clutched it when I was scared?" I whispered as I tilted it back and forth slowly to catch the stunning yellow glow in the dim light.
"Of course it isn't" Chase replied "It's a piece of me you have with you all the time. I guess you hoped I was with you when you held it."
"Exactly!" I exclaimed as I let the pendant fall to my chest before rolling over to plant a soft kiss on his lips. "You're as nutty as I am" I smiled as I spoke.
"I guess so" he whispered with a small laugh before rolling over to kiss me passionately under his strong embrace.
