After the incident in the café, I was cautious the rest of the day, in fear they might retaliate, but I was lost in excitement, because Halloween is a week away, and that's my birthday!!!!

I'm turning 18!!! I never let the fact that I was given away on the day I was born get in my way, they just put me on the steps to a orphanage not even an hour after I was born

Ok it did make me a little sad, but they most have had a good reason right?

In my thoughts I bumped into someone and we fell to the floor, my landing on his chest

"I-I'm so sorry!"

My voice catching causing me to blush

"It's alright luv, I don't mind the view"

His voice was musical to a point, and it made me blush harder, making my freckles look blue

I scrambled off him and my breath stopped, he was like us! His eyes a glowing icy blue and skin the was tan but shone with a prism effect where the sun hit him

"What's your name?"

"Jem... Yours?"

"Winter, I'm new here"

"I can see that"

"Rowan came around the corner with magnolia on his heels"

"Rowan!!! We're going to be late! Hurry your lazy ass up its time for music!!!"

I whispered a soft goodbye before running to catch up, his face running through my mind on an endless reel
