Fear of the Dark

Chapter 7

Why would Pitch do something like this?  I can't really believe it. How could he even have done it... There had to be a reason why it took him so long to come back.

I'm still on the ground when Bunny and North come over to help me up. Tooth tries to help too but she's too weak. When I'm finally on my feet Bunny puts his paw on my shoulder and brings my chin up so I look at him.

" I know it hurts but please... don't go back to him." He says with sorrow in his eyes. I nod still with tears in my eyes.

" We all know you two have a special connection but he will always be the way that he is, evil." Bunny then says. I want to protest and tell him that Pitch is not evil just has different intentions but... what do I know anymore. 

" Can I.. go somewhere else.. to recover?" I ask stuttering. I see as North looks at Bunny.

" You can go to the Pole and recover. Tell the yetis to protect you. I know that you are in a weak state right now so don't strain yourself." North says very calmly. I'm surprised they still want me as a friend.

North gives me a snow globe and tells me they are going to be in the Warren planning. I nod and activate the snow globe. Before I go through Tooth comes towards me and hugs me. 

" Keep safe." She then whispers in my ear. She is always so sweet. After she lets go I smile at her and walk through the portal.

I step out of the portal and focus on the big Globe that's in front of me. I'm at the Pole and I can feel my hair changing colour.  Its red again and it always gets me into the Christmas feeling. I see the elves come up to me and look confused, then the yetis come and look as confused as the elves. 

" North sent me, He told me to tell you to protect me because I'm in a weak state. But I'm going to take a shower and I would like to change my clothes. I just feel wrong." I tell one of the yetis and he nods and says something in his weird yeti language to the the other yetis. I find the backpack that I always leave behind here in case I need a change of clothes after a long time and go off to take a shower.

After a long and refreshing shower I walk into the main hall to see what everyone is doing. I see the yetis working as usual and the elves goofing off. They always look so silly. I smile to myself and walk up to one of the yetis to see what he's doing. He's painting robots. Well it looks like he's fixing them. The last one's he's painting are blue, he's painting them red. I decide to help him so I take one off the blue robots and grab a brush. He smiles at me and keeps on painting. 

He picks um the last robot and at this moment my hair has completely dried so I pick up my brush to make it cute. I watch as the yeti paints over the last line of blue and the smile on his face when he does is beautiful. I put my brush back into the backpack and put it down on the floor. 

All the sudden all the robots start shaking violently and the yeti starts freaking out, trying to catch the ones falling off the shelf. I try to help but some yetis start running over to me to make sure nothing falls on me. Then I start seeing black sand. It covers the globe and the yetis form a circle to protect me. The first thing I can really do is squat so no creature of Pitch's sees me. Then I hear laughing.

"You're all free to go, we won't be needing any Christmas toys this year. Thank You!" I hear the all too familiar voice say. I can feel my blood boil as anger kicks in.

" Nor ever again." He continues. I can feel the sadness in the air as he says that. The yetis stand tall though.

I decide to stand up but I reach for my backpack and pull out my hoodie and throw it on while I'm still on the floor. Once I'm on my feet I put the hood over my head so my hair isn't visible. I look at the globe and I see Pitch dancing on it as he counts down the last few lights that are still on it. I'm quick to put my hands in my pockets and I feel something in one of them. I take it out and see a capsule. It's Jamie's capsule that I kept. I look at it and stick it back into my pocket. I think to myself quickly as I remember my few powers. I can make kids belief stronger for a moment so I look at the lights that are left and see that there is one left in Burgress. I know for a fact that Jamie believes with all his heart but he might need help. I get the capsule back out of my pocket and focus on Jamie's face, I feel the energy forming inside me. I send out a small blast of energy to the globe and I can feel his belief get stronger but only as Pitch tries to turn his light off. Pitch gets annoyed and growls the word "one".

Using my powers makes me very weak even though they don't do much for a long time. I feel the drowsiness come and I almost fall to the ground but a yeti catches me. My hood falls off and the yetis all turn around to see what happened. This commotion catches Pitch's attention. 

" (y/n)?" He says in a softer tone. He poofs over to where the yetis are but they don't let him pass. The yeti that caught me got me to my feet and I looked at Pitch with a look that is in between disgust and relief. 

" How did you get here?" He then asks me. I don't answer him. I turn my head and cross my arms. I can barley even look at him.

" What is it? Now you're mad at me?" He then says. I can hear his footsteps go around the yetis, he obviously knows I don't want him inside this circle and he seems to respect that but he's trying to get closer either way.

" What did I do now?" He then asks me in a mocking tone. His temper has changed.

I look at him as he slowly walks over to where I was looking. I can't any longer.

" You know exactly what you did." I say in an annoyed tone. He looks at me and pretends not to know. He probably still thinks I don't know.

He gets closer, I can literally see the light bulb when he gets what I mean.

" Who told you?" He then says still with the same look though.

" What does it matter! You did something horrible to someone that was dear to me!" I yell at him and he backs up a bit. I'm still kind of lightheaded after using my powers so I almost fall over and a yeti grabs my shoulder.

" He was my polar opposite, if I wanted to win this fight I had to take him out." Pitch then say a little louder.

That was the final straw. I didn't care anymore about passing out. I channeled some energy of light that Sandy taught me to do, another one of my abilities is that I can learn how to do anything. I channel as much of it as I can and make a run for Pitch. I send the energy at him and the impact makes me fall to my knees. I see as the light energy hits him and pushes him back and he falls. It seems to have hurt him a little. That was my intention. He has an angry expression once he's up on his feet, but once he sees me on the ground with tears in my eyes his expression changes. The yetis come to my aid while he just watched as a tear runs down my cheek. I get on my feet but I'm terribly lightheaded. Then I see him take a few steps forward. 

" I never meant to hurt you like this.." He says with sorrow in his eyes. Then he disappears. Once he leaves I loose consciousness. 

Did he really mean what he said?
