REMUS LUPIN RUNS WITH HIS LUGGAGE to catch the midnight train to his first day of uni. His breath heaves, and he climbs to the train and board it before it took off into the darkness.

It seems that he isn't the only one on it. Three other people are laughing obnoxiously, and are dressed in all black. The boys rummage through a duffel bag, chuckling. Remus raises an eyebrow.

One of the boys smiles at him, giving him a wink. His hair is jet black and curly, coming to a stop at the nape of his neck. His jawline looks like it could cut diamonds. The boy has a few tattoos lining his arms underneath the black t-shirt.

"C'mon Padfoot. Stop ogling at the poor lad over there," says the black-haired boy's friend, who had circular glasses over his green eyes and shaggy yet short brown hair.

"Okay, okay Prongs. Sit down before you hurt yourself, you sod."

Prongs? Padfoot? Are these code names? Remus thinks as he opens up a book.

"Wormtail, did you get the stuff?"

The last boy, Wormtail, nods to the one called Prongs. "Yes, I got everything," he says.

Remus can feel his heart pounding hard in his chest as Padfoot looks at him with dark eyes - almost as dark as the night sky around them. Remus sees smudged, black eyeliner on the boys' eyes - and Remus resists the urge to go over and kiss the boy senseless.

Remus knew he was gay when he was eight and he saw a gay couple kissing in the rain. He felt his own heart ache for that kind of love. When he was fifteen he got dared to kiss the only other queer person at the party, Braxton Daines. The kiss wasn't the best; Braxton was too handsy and too drunk, and it didn't feel too special.

A loud clang snaps Remus back to the train and away from his memory.

His telescope rolls to the back or the train. "Shit!" Remus cusses and gets up to retrieve his runaway telescope. Remus crawls on the floor and comes in contact with a solid object. He looks up, blushing. Padfoot, the one that was staring at him, has Apollo (his telescope) in his hands. "I think this is yours," he says. His voice is smooth and Remus notices he smells like rosemary. "Oh, u-um, thanks," Remus says, standing up while running the name of his neck nervously.

"No problem. What's your name?" he asks.

Remus bites his lip. "Remus Lupin."

"The infamous Sirius Black, at your service."

"Oh, that's weird, I've never heard of you before," Remus smirks.

Sirius' eyes twinkle as he gives Remus a cheeky grin.

Sirius. What a name. Remus thinks back when he was first learning about the stars. His name was part of Canis Major! Remus thinks. He wants to say, 'Your eyes sparkle just as bright as the star that is your name. But instead, he just says, "Cool name."

Sirius smiles. "Thanks, Remus."

Something inside Remus gets all fluffy when he says his name - the way it rolled off of his tongue...

"No problem," he says.

Remus doesn't even realize he's clenching Apollo so hard his knuckles are white until he hears a tiny crack beneath him. A piece of the casing has chipped off and falls to the train floor. He scrambles to pick it up and sits down abruptly. His cheeks are burning furiously with embarrassment and he can hear Sirius chuckle a little, before going back to his friends. Tears are welling in his eyes, his precious Apollo now was a crack in the casing.

Remus glances at his luggage. Most of it was already moved into his new dorm at Hogwarts University. It was a very prestigious school, he had been told that by his mother multiple times when filling out the application.

He plugs his headphones back in - drowning out the muffled laughter of Sirius Black and his friends in Arctic Monkey's' Favorite Worst Nightmare.

When the train stops, it's in the middle of the city. Remus sees the three boys get off with their duffel bag and run into the night, all laughing. Sirius seems to have forgotten something because Remus spots a pair of glasses left on one of the seats.

Remus picks them up and notices the initials engraved on the side of the frame. S.B., it reads. They were Sirius Black's. Remus smiles to himself.

I wonder what they are up to...

Remus arrives at Hogwarts sleepy-eyed and hungry. He had run out of trail mix, and he didn't get much sleep because he was too busy twiddling with Sirius' glasses and just...thinking.

The train stops and Remus lugs himself, and his bags, off. Remus gazes up at the school. It is a huge school; looks almost castle-like; there is a big willow tree on the far left, overlooking a lake, and Remus spots a high tower at the very top of the pristine school.

There are people everywhere Remus turns. He smiles at the diversity. A ginger haired girl runs up to him. "Hello! I'm Lily Evans! Do you need help getting to your dorms or finding your schedule?"

Remus blinks as he tries to understand what she says, only because she's saying it too quickly.

"Oh, hello. I do need my schedule, and I do need to know my dorm." Remus says, giving Lily a shy smile.

She pushes her glasses up onto the bridge of her freckled nose. "Okay! Follow me. Welcome," Lily says, a grin on her face as she leads him to a pair of the biggest entrance doors he has ever seen, pushing them open.

Remus' eyes travel and gaze onto the sights and wonders. The school is lit entirely and students move swiftly around the many intricate stairways.

Lily stops at a desk with only an old hat on it. "There are four house's names in this hat. Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. Based on the application you submitted and your academic achievements you have been placed in the house of Gryffindor."

Remus smiles. "Sweet," he says.

Lily winks. "The Great Hall is right there. Gryffindor rooms are to the left. The men's dorms are behind the door next to the painting of the Fat Lady over there. There's a password to get in that changes for security. Here's your schedule Remus. Don't hesitate to ask me if you need help around, I'm in Gryffindor as well," Lily says. She hands Remus an envelope.

"Thank you, Lily."

"Welcome to Hogwarts."
