BEFORE THEY LEAVE, REMUS APPLIES his concealer and combs his hair in the large boy's bathroom only just down the hallway from the Great Hall.

Sirius is waiting by the door, smiling down at his camera as he fiddles with knobs and buttons. Remus smiles softly at him and turns to the boy waiting by the door, putting his hands in his pockets. Remus reads the sign hanging on the wall: Prefects Bathroom Only.

Remus turns to Sirius with confusion. "Padfoot, what does Prefect mean?"

He glances up from his camera. "Oh, that. Prefects are like students who have top-notch grades, lots of money and got voted head boy or girl of their house. James and I go in there sometimes if we're wasted and want a bubble bath. It's quite fun, but I don't think I've ever been in sober. Snuck in a couple of times to prank some of the Slytherin Prefects." Sirius says, laughing.

Remus smiles, walking out of the bathroom. "You're too crazy. So who else is joining us with the picnic beside James and Peter?"

Sirius chuckles. "Sometimes Lily comes along if James drags her. But she's either hanging out with Snivellus or one of her friends." Remus raises an eyebrow. "Who's Snivellus?"

"We just call him that. His name is Severus Snape, also Lily's closest friend. He's a real slime ball, Moony." Sirius says, trailing off, remembering a bad memory. He remembers the grueling pain, seeing Snape, Malfoy, his brother above him. Remus can see it in his eyes because they darken and Sirius' face falls. "Padfoot, are you okay?"

Sirius can feel his hand shaking and his nails digging into his palms. He tries to take a deep breath. Remus what's a hand on his shoulder and the memory disintegrates. All Sirius can feel is the warmth radiating from Remus' palm on his shoulder.

"I'm alright, mate. Thanks." Sirius says, walking to the Great Hall. Remus looks at Sirius' hands as he drops his own from the boy's shoulder. Remus can see the marks where Sirius was digging his nails into his palms. He wonders how truly broken and he was.

Remus shakes his head as he and Sirius sit across from James and Peter at the Gryffindor table. James is drinking a large cup of coffee while tapping away at his phone. Peter sits next to a large white basket as he looks up from a book.

"Oh, hello Sirius, Remus," Peter said before sticking his nose back into the ratty book he was reading.

Remus sits next to Sirius who carefully rests his camera on the table.

Remus sees a steaming pot of coffee on the table and next to it is a teacup. He smiles and pulls himself a cup.

"I want a cup," Sirius whines and Remus nods, pouring another and hands it to him. The cup looks tiny in Sirius' large, .bulky hands and Remus giggles a bit. Sirius gives Remus a look and he smiles. James looks up from his phone and rolls his eyes.

"Stop flirting. You two are giving me a headache." Remus turns red and Sirius chuckles. "You're real funny, James."

James scoffs and looks back down at his phone. " Lily is coming, she's just going to be running late," he mumbles. Sirius mods, "Okay but I need to go to the bookstore, Prongs."

Peter's eyes gleam at the mention of the bookstore. Remus sips slowly at his coffee, cautious as to not burn his tongue with the hot liquid. Sirius seems to be clearly finished with his cup. "Okay, we'll go to your bookstore, Padfoot." James mumbles.
