SIRIUS BLACK DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE NEVER DID, REALLY. MOST OF HIS greatest accomplishments were done without thought, always spontaneous and filled to the brim with consequences. Although, one thing he did know at this moment, is that he was desperate to kiss Remus Lupin.

He certainly wasn't expecting to do it this quickly, hell, he wasn't even sure that Remus wasn't straight-- but he wanted to try. This wasn't the time though, no matter how bad Sirius had it. He continues reading, but he finds his attention wandering...toward the other boy.

Remus  shakes his head. Fuck it, he thinks. He lifts his hand up to the spine  of the book and his fingers push it below Sirius' face. Startled, Sirius  looks up from the pages. "Huh? Remus, what are you doing?"

"Something I should have done a long time ago," he whispers.

Remus moves in closer, pushing the book to the side. Sirius glances at the book and at Remus' face which is inching toward his own and he knows. As much as he wanted this kiss, he didn't know how sober Remus was. It wouldn't be the same.

"Wait," Sirius mumbles, placing his hand on Remus' shoulder.

Slightly embarrassed, Remus stops. "Oh, uh, I'm..." he says, fumbling over his words. Blushing, he pulls back.

Sirius shakes his head. "No, no, I mean...Fuck, Moony. I really..." he trails off. Sirius wishes the words would come out, correctly this time.

Remus smiles, confused. He glances at Sirius, trying to analyze some sort of body language. His arms outstretched--he certainly wasn't uncomfortable at the situation, but he was holding back. "Go ahead, it's okay."

"Oh, well, I...I like you. I do, I just don't think we should do this if we're not in the right state of mind, you know?" Sirius says, raising his glasses up to rest on the crown of his head.

Remus nods. He was still buzzed, and the information he was just given wasn't completely processed. Did Sirius just say that he liked him? Oh. He did. "Yeah, I...know. I like you, too." The sheepish smile which Remus finds quite fond returns to Sirius' lips.

"Good, because then I'd really be wondering why you'd want to kiss me, Moony." Sirius says, his grin growing.

"Oh, shut up and keep reading, will ya?" Remus chuckles. Lifting his hands to Sirius' head, Remus gently places his glasses back onto the crook of his nose.

Sirius smiles, "Of course, whatever you want."

Remus was relieved, he was enjoying the time he was spending with Sirius. Even if it was simply reading, his voice was soothing. He felt himself nodding off, and curled up close to Sirius. He gently moved his arms so he was underneath them, his back close to Sirius' chest.

Sirius takes a deep breath, he feels his heart beating rapidly in his chest. He continues reading, until finally he can hear Remus' breathing slow down, and he realizes he's fallen asleep. He closes his book quietly, setting it down on the bedside table. Sirius smiles softly as he runs his fingers gently through Remus' chestnut brown hair.

"Goodnight," he whispers, and shuts off the light.
