Genre: Paranormal/Werewolf

Rating: PG-13- Mature

Chapters Read: 20-30 (Used to be in my library)

Summary:

"In this town, the Brotherhood controls all..."

As a notorious career criminal and the Alpha of Brotherhood of Cain, Draven Cain, is used to controlling everything. He knows exactly what happens in the cutthroat slums of Citadel: every gruesome death, every planned heist, and every one of the cities power players. However, what he didn't know, is that the one time he decides to be a good guy and saves a seemingly distressed damsel, his carefully calculated life goes straight to hell. And damned if he doesn't enjoy it.

Ethel Pennington is not used to scarred werewolves with homicidal tendencies and elite drug rings. Though with the way she strolls around, you thought she would. But when her deeply ingrained past comes back in the form of a bloodthirsty cult, there may be only one person who can save her: Draven Cain. Too bad he has no intention of letting the brunette spitfire go.

Grammar:

Like most stories I read regularly, this story is impeccable in terms of grammar. Very little errors, which doesn't get in the way of the plot, like other stories. The author has no problem painting a picture for the reader with lucid vocabulary as well.

5/5

Plot:

I read this a few months ago, and recalled how good it was, so I read five chapters to jog my memory. I can still remember much of the plot, though.

If you've read it, you'll obviously be able to distinguish this story from the legions of other werewolf stories. Very original plot, and what really caught my eye was how the author incorporated the mafia theme into the story as well.

No one can say no to a story where werewolves are mobsters.

The plot is paced decently so that it keeps the reader intrigued, and the concept is practically unheard of. Twists and turns get the readers gasping, which is something I really admire in a story. I'm not a big fan of werewolf stories. At all. But this is just one of those stories that are immediately enjoyable no matter what the genre.

The plot appeals to me in a way that few other stories haven't. A few things I didn't like here and there, but those things were relatively trivial when compared to the story as a whole.

Don't take it personal, but I always have problems with stories, no matter how small or few in number.

The author made a stupendous job at developing her story. I may just happen to have a different opinion on it, but other people will probably rate it a solid 5/5. I'm just critical like that.

4.5/5

Characters:

The characters  are one of the most enjoyable aspects in the story. Ethel and Draven are those take-no-prisoners types. Ethel is far from the damsel-in-distress kind of heroine, as she can be as ruthless and calculating as Draven himself sometimes (in my opinion).

Both are just instantly likable, and are very realistic in the sense that Citadel is as depraved as it's residents. I especially like how the characters will go through any means necessary to survive. The characters are depicted exactly as people living in a place as dangerous as Citadel should be.

The relationship between Ethel and Draven is developed fairly decently throughout the story, and very interesting to see unfold, as both are head-strong personalities.

Tamal and Tycho are bae, definitely something I don't say often.
