Chapter 27: Tom

Elena's POV

I wake up from my nap and see that on Klaus's GPS that we have 30 minutes until we reach our destination. "So, what's your whole motive behind this thing anyway. And you can tell me. I'm just a helpless human now." I chirp in. Hoping I can convince him to tell me something behind this. "Up for a little history lesson love?" "We have 27 minutes so what the hell." "Well, Stefan transition into vampirism in 1864 because of Katherine. Well before then there was a man named Silas. Well, Silas was in love with a woman named Amara. They were both alive during the times of the Greek gods and goddesses. Well what I'm saying is that Katherine is the doppelgänger of Amara and you are the doppelgänger of Katherine, so just like you and Katherine are identical, you two are also identical to Amara. Stefan is the doppelgänger of Silas and Tom is the doppelgänger of Stefan so the three of them are identical. Now getting to the point of this history lesson. The doppelgängers of Silas and Amara's always end up as a couple. The tragedy behind this is that none of them have worked out, so the doppelgängers will continue until they are together for the rest of time. But Stefan becoming a vampire and falling in love with you has screwed everything up. And well, I'm sure that you and Tom won't work out but Stefan will get an invitation to the wedding and he will come and I will get my ripper back from the twenties. But that's a story for another time." "So basically I'm bait." I state. "Yes." "But are you even sure that he'll come. He could be so heart broken that he would never even look me in the eyes again. Let alone come to my wedding." "Oh darling, I know he will." "How can you be so sure." "Well love, you're in love with him, here's the best part: he loves you more than his own life. So, here's the worst part; he'd loves you so much more than his own life." (A/n I saw that quote on tumblr so credit to them) I don't know what to say after that. So I closed my mouth and looked out the window and tried to figure out where we are. I get no clues from the landscaping surrounding us, that is until we pass a sign, Welcome to Georgia; state of adventure. "Klaus! How the hell are we in Georgia when earlier we were in Italy?" I scream at him the panic in my body building. "You're very easy to compel on a plane and then erase your memory." Klaus says in a tone almost as if he was saying something completely normal. "Now, darling we have five minutes so play on your phone and fix your mascara please." "Klaus you took my phone...idiot." I mumble under my breath even though I know he can still hear me. I feel my phone hit my head, on purpose because vampires don't miss their target, let alone an original. I roll my eyes at Klaus and open up the camera on my phone. My makeup was severely smudged, so I do my best to repair. "Ok darling we're here, have fun with Tom!" Klaus parks the car and opens the door for me as he guides me to where..."Stefan, that's Stefan!" Rejoice fills my voice as I get ready to run to him before I feel Klaus' hand wrap around my wrist keeping me from moving. "That is Tom." Klaus whispers aggressively in my ear. "No, that's Stefan, I know my boyfriend and that's him, not some stupid doppelganger." I continue to protest. "Yell out Tom and you'll see for yourself." Klaus pushes me forward and runs off. I roll my eyes and decide to yell out Tom. Quickly the man that looks exactly like Stefan turns around and starts to run towards me. "Elena! Baby!" Once he reaches to where I was standing with a fake smile on my face as he spins me around in the air. "You excited for dinner tonight?" Tom asks me staring into my eyes as though he's known me for years. "Uh yeah of course!" I can feel Klaus getting into my head, "Put on a good show." Klaus says before he completely disappearing. "So why don't you go back to the apartment and get ready for our dinner tonight." Tom says holding my hands. "Yeah of course, uh baby I lost my key can I borrow yours to get a new one made?" I ask putting on my best innocent smile. "Of course, just let me in later on, ok babe?" Tom and I share a quick kiss and I walk away as Tom hops back into the ambulance truck and I run to catch a cab. I find an address for a locks smith and the cab drops me off there where I get a new key made. Suddenly I remember that I have no clue where the apartment is. "Klaus?" I ask as I hear him pick up his phone. "So far love your performance has been very convincing. "Great, but where is this apartment that apparently the two of us live in together." I ask as the lock smith finishes up the key. "Your at the lock smith right love?" Klaus asks. "Yeah." "I'll be there in 2 seconds." Klaus hangs up the phone and I turn around to grab and pay for the key. I leave the store and see Klaus sitting out in his car. I get in the car and Klaus attempts to make conversation and I participate...as little as possible. Klaus drops me off at a beautiful two story loft. "I'll send you the address later tonight." Klaus says speeding off in a James Bond type of motion. I unlock the apartment and find my way to the shower. Once I get out I see that the time is 5 and I might as well start getting ready. I pick up my phone and see a picture of Stefan and I as my lock screen. Before I know it I'm holding the phone up to my ear waiting to hear Stefan's voice. "Elena, baby is that you?" Stefan's voice answered sounding frantic. "Yes baby it's me. I'm in Georgia do you want me to send you the address of the apartment where I'm staying?" I ask feeling a little more re leaved that I'm able to hear his voice. "Yes, let me come there and we can work something out." Stefan says. "Ok, but I need to find out the hours that Tom works, the last thing I want is making Klaus mad with his master plan. Ok baby?" I ask wishing I could hold him. "Ok, text me as soon as you get the address." "Ok, Stefan I love you with all my heart, we'll be together again soon." "I love you Elena, you are my forever and always." I hang up the phone as tears flood down my face. Wishing I could hold the person I love more than anything in this world.
