Chapter 3

---------------JAI'S POV-----------------

We were unpacking Leah's suitcase I picked up a photo of her and her family. I smiled and turned to her.

"This is a nice one, I'm guessing this is your family right?"

She walked over to me and stood so close to me. I prayed she couldn't hear my hear thudding against my ribs. I could smell her perfume as she looked at the photo.

"Yeah, my mum, my dad and my brother Ian. It was my graduation, we went to a really fancy restaurant afterwards, it was such a good day..." She trailed off and I looked at her face. I could see her eyes brimming with tears and my heart nearly broke in two.

"Why did you move all the way out here Leah?" I asked her, my voice barely above a whisper. I needed to know why no one stopped a beautiful girl like her leaving everything behind.

I.. I needed to get away" at this point tears were falling down her cheeks, "my job.. You don't understand.." She trailed off again.

I reached up and brushed the tears off her face and looked into her eyes. All I saw was sadness. Her expression was guarded but I could see a little bit of light dancing in her gorgeous brown eyes beneath her dark lashes.

All of a sudden she pulled away as Luke bounced into the room. Stupid dick head. All he could talk about was pizza while I could only watch as Leah regained her composure from across the room.

She walked past me into the bathroom and shut the door behind her. I sighed heavily and left the room. I was falling for this girl but I felt like I had a fight on my hands. She's been through hell, I could see it in her eyes.

---------------LEAH'S POV---------------

A while later we were all sprawled out on the couch, full of pizza and sweets that I had bought in the airport. It was getting pretty late and we had watched three movies so I turned to the boys.

"You guys wanna stay here tonight? Saves you the hassle of walking home and I don't start work until Monday."

"Perfect!" replied Beau, "I wanna order another pizza anyway!"

Everyone groaned in unison and I stood up and yawned.

"Well I'm off to bed, take whatever rooms you want! I'll see you guys tomorrow."

"We can show you around Melbourne if you want..?" Luke piped up. I smiled and agreed that we'd all go around Melbourne tomorrow. As I walked past Jai I could feel his stare burning into me. I walked upstairs and changed into a pair of pyjama shorts and a tank top and climbed into bed.

It wasn't long until I fell asleep and the nightmares started.

-----------------Dream------------------

Rob was standing in front of me on the platform. I could hear the train coming and I stepped closer to Rob.

"Baby, please.. Just come here" I pleaded with him. "Just come away from the edge and we can talk ok?"

Rob shook his head and stepped even closer to the edge.

"You can't leave me Leah" he replied, scarily calm. His ice blue eyes stared right through into my soul. "I can't live like this anymore. Not without you."

Time was running out. I could feel the ground vibrate as the train got closer.

"Rob, think of your family!" I nearly screamed, hysterical now. "I love you, don't you see that?! Please don't do this Rob!!"

I could see the light of the train drawing ever closer. He had a look of steely determination in his eye. He blinked once slowly.

"Goodbye Leah."

The train came. He jumped.. I screamed...

I woke up screaming with sobs racking my body. My skin was clammy and my hair was plastered to my face.

All of a sudden the door flew open and Jai was standing there in just a pair of shorts. He ran over to me and took me into his arms as I sobbed uncontrollably, whispering soothing words and kissing the top of my head. I began to calm down and tried to speak.

"Jai, I'm so sor-" I began, but he cut me off.

"Shhh, it's ok. You don't have to explain anything. Just go back to sleep, ok?"

He began to get up but I pulled him back.

"Jai.. Stay with me. Please" my voice cracked on the last word and he hugged me tightly again.

"Of course. I've got you."

I lay back down and Jai lay down behind me. He draped his arm across my waist and entwined his fingers with mine.

"You're safe now." He whispered. I started drifting off, lulled by the sound of his steady breathing and pretty soon I was asleep.

---------------JAI'S POV----------------

As I held Leah in my arms for the first time in a long time I felt like I had a purpose in life.

I heard her screams from the next room and I ran in to see what was going on. The look on her face.. Her expression.. I've never seen anyone in so much emotional pain. I held her even closer to me as she sobbed and my heart was breaking at the sound of her crying. Why was she in so much pain? Who did this to her? So many questions were running through my head and I didn't have answers to any of them.

I felt her breathing get more relaxed as she slowly fell asleep in my arms. When she asked me to stay with her I felt so happy that I was the one she wanted. She was so beautiful and funny and kind and I wanted to protect her from anything that would hurt her.

I inhaled the scent of her hair, kissed her and whispered quietly again before I drifted off.

"You're safe now. I'll never let you go"

I know this was kinda short guys but I tried to make things interesting!

Jai is just wow though, I actually am obsessed with writing this!!
