----------------JAI'S POV------------------

I lay on my bed and stared up at the ceiling. It had been over a week since I last saw her and mum had dropped her home from the hospital four days ago. I missed her, the sound of her voice, her smile, her laugh.. Her touch.

I snapped out of it and sat up, pinching the bridge of my nose between my thumb and forefinger. I hadn't slept well since I saw her at the hospital. I kept hearing her voice every time I closed my eyes, begging me to help her while I just stood there.

I walked into Luke's room where he and Skip were playing FIFA. Skip was beating him badly and Luke was screaming at the screen.

"FUUUUCK! Skip when did you get so good, you slut!" Luke whined. They both looked up when they saw me and paused the game.

"Hey mate," Skip greeted me, "you feeling good today?" I shrugged and leaned against the door frame with my arms folded.

"Yeah, I guess. Any word on Leah? Has she spoken to any of you?" Skip and Luke looked at each other and shook their heads.

"Apart from a few quick tweets, no not really." Luke answered. I nodded and was about to turn away when Skip called me back.

"Jai, I know what happened to Leah was horrible and I get why you're upset but.." He paused, scratching the back of his neck before continuing. "You've only known her for like three or four weeks. D'ya not think its a bit soon to be so attached and affected by her?"

I smiled weakly and replied. "I know what you mean Skip. I can't explain it either, it's like.. It's like when I see her I can be really happy and feel whole again. Like me and Ariana were good together but when I'm with Leah..

It's a whole different ball game. It's like something just switches on inside me and I feel alive." I stopped, realising how cheesy I sounded but Luke and Skip were smiling at me with amused expressions.

"Then you better go her her." Luke stated, standing up and stretching. "If she's all you say she is then you gotta go talk to her."

I turned away from the door and walked to the kitchen where mum was unpacking shopping bags.

"I'm going to Leah's, I'll be back soon." I told her, zipping up my hoodie and slipping on my Vans. She nodded and called after me "Be careful!" as I headed out the door.

I pulled my hood over my head and kept my head low the whole way to Leah's. The last thing I needed was a bunch of overly-hormonal fangirls seeing me. It was getting dark and the streetlights cast elongated shadows on the path in front of me. I had never been scared of the dark but I now know what kind of danger lurks in the shadows.

I walked up the curved driveway to the house, looking for any signs of movement through the windows. The lights were all on so I approached the door and knocked loudly.

"Leah? It's me, Jai." I listened through the door, waiting for any signs of movement. I heard footsteps slowly padding towards the door.

"Jai?" Her voice was like an angels, I had missed it so much.

"Yeah, it's me. Can I come in?" I heard the door being unlocked and it opened.

My breath caught in my throat slightly as I took her in. The bruises on her face had faded to a sickly yellow and the stitches on her eye and lip were still very noticeable and swollen. The marks on her neck were almost invisible and the small cuts were nearly healed.

"Why don't you take a picture, it'll last longer." I looked up at her and there was a small smile on her face. I chuckled nervously as she walked back into the house, leaving the door open for me to follow her in.
