Millard walked back to the sitting room he'd been in earlier. No one was there except the very tall, scar faced boy he'd seen at dinner earlier.
"Your ymbryne is in the hospital wing." He told Millard.
He didn't know where that was, and it showed on his face.
"Third door on the left."
"Thanks. What's your name?"
"Jamie." he grunted.
"How come you're okay?"
"Gideon and Fabian are my little brothers. Couldn't hurt me even if their lives depended on it." He answered.
Millard walked to the hospital wing and found Fabian running around, trying to heal as many people as quickly as possible.
Miss Peregrine had been uneffected by Gideon."Ah, Mr. Nullings. How are you feeling?"
He wished people would stop asking him that.
"I'm fine. Fabian healed me."
Miss Peregrine looked devastated at the damage around her. Millard wasn't actually affected too badly because he had spent some time with Gideon. Many of Miss Peregrine's children were strangers to Gideon, and were badly affected. Claire and Olive were fine, though. Millard remembered them talking to Gideon during dinner and asking about the flower he had killed. Many others were hurt. Hugh was very pale, and his bees were on top of his stomach instead of in it. Jacob was fine, and the others were recovering in hospital beds. Fabian said most of them would be fine by dinnertime. Millard looked to the clock. It was 7:45 in the morning.
Seeing that he had a lot of time to kill, he walked back to the library. The door was closed. He opened it a crack and heard Gideon crying on Alice's shoulder.
"The first day I meet other peculiar kids and I send them to the hospital wing." He wailed.
Alice said nothing. She seemed to be comforting him just by listening to him. Millard stood at the doorway and wondered whether or not he should go in.
"And the two kids I was talking to, Millard and Jacob, i even hurt them. All of Miss P's kids must be terrified of me now."
Millard shifted his foot, and accidentally thumped it against the doorframe. Gideon immediately looked at him.
"Come here." He asked.
Millard cautiously walked towards the matress they were sitting on. He sat next to Gideon.
"Look at me."
Millard did. His sunken eyes were red from crying, and still had tears flowing from them.
"Are you afraid of me?" he asked softly.
"Yes." Millard answered truthfully. Gideon's response just about broke his heart.
"So am I."
