When Millard awoke, he was a jail cell with Gideon, Fabian, and to his relief, Jamie. They were all unconscious.

"Hello?" he called out cautiously.

"Millard?" Alice's voice called back.

"Yes! Yes, it's me. Are you alright?"

"Im fine, so is Gwen. How are you and the others?"

"That's good..the others are unconscious, but they're alive."

He heard Alice sigh with relief.

Fabian stirred next to him.

"Mil?" he said weakly.

"Yeah?"

"Where are we?"

"Prison. They knocked us out and stuffed us in here."

Fabian sat up and looked around. He had to be hit much harder than Millard, and had a black eye to go along with the gash on his forehead.

"We lost." Fabian said grimmly.

"What?"

"We lost. They've got us captured."

"Fabian? Is that you?" Gwen called from the other cell.

"Yeah."

"Dont you ever say that again. They've got us locked up, but that doesn't mean we're helpless. We've got the fate of peculiardom itself riding on our shoulders, so dont you dare give up."

Fabian smiled

"Okay mom."

A guard entered the small prison, a clipboard in hand.

"Luxtenebris, Gideon."

No answer.

"Luxtenebris, Gideon." he repeated.

No answer. Gideon was still unconscious.

The guard walked over to the cell Millard and the brothers were being held in. He unlocked the door and stepped inside to grab Gideon. Millard had positioned himself in the front right corner of the cell, made it look like he was unconscious, and the guard didnt notice him. He slid the guard's gun out of it's holster, and the keys from the chain. Fabian, as planned, started attacking the guard to take focus away from Millard.

It worked, and Millard slipped out of the cell, and locked the guard inside. Jamie, just now concious, picked up on what was happening, and struck the guard, leaving him unconscious. Millard unlocked the cell to let the brothers out (Gideon was carried out by Jamie) and locked it again to keep the guard there if he woke up. They unlocked all the other cells, and Millard was relieved to see Miss Peregrine's other children were unharmed.

When he got to Gwen and Alice's cell, Alice, who was very glad to see him again, immediately pulled him into a bone crushing hug. Millard felt the same way, pulled back from the hug, and kissed her, forgetting there were roughly 20 people watching them. She kissed back, but it was over quickly. They were both slightly taken aback, but glad.

"Jeez, maybe we should leave just leave them in a cell so they can have some alone time." Jacob said shortly after.

Despite the predictable joke, everyone laughed.

Millard, Alice, Jamie and Fabian (Gideon was still out cold) crept up the stairs into the front of the store while the others stayed behind incase anything went wrong.

Millard still had the guard's gun. Millard had only used a gun once before, and it had been in a very controlled environment. He had gotten earplugs, and safety goggles, and only fired it once. He held it awkwardly, and Jamie noticed.

Jamie stifled what would've been a warm laugh, then sighed. He held out his hand and gestured for Millars to hand over the gun. Millard sheepishly handed it over. I was late in the evening, so there were few people around.

They did run into a couple of guards, but Jamie took them out. Not with the gun, though. He just snuck up on them and cracked them on the head, then used the guard's handcuffs to cuff them to a radiator or something to keep them from following once they woke up.

They came upon a door that had several locks on it, and was guarded by two large men. They decided they needes to get into that door, because something important-possibly peculiarities- would be the only things that would be so heavily guarded.

Jamie had already fought several guards, and needed to catch his breath. Alice distracted them by pretending to be a lost customer that wandered away from the store front, and needed directions back while the fellas waited around the corner.

She played dumb and pretended to not understand the directions, and asked to hear them again and again. She did a great job in distracting the guards, and Millard noticed she had unbuttoned the top couple of buttons in the shirt she was wearing, to perhaps distract the 30-something year old guards even further.

Once Jamie had gathered himself, he, Fabian and Millard took down the guards after Alice had started the attack. They sat outside the door for a moment, wheezing after the small battle. Alice's shirt was still somewhat unbuttoned, but Jamie and Fabian didnt notice.

"Good job distracting those guards, Alice." Jamie said, actually looking at her for the first time in a few minutes. His eyes trailed down briefly, and he sighed.

"So that's what really distracted the guards, eh?"

Everyone chuckled, and Alice buttoned her shirt back up.

"It probably held their attention longer." She said, smiling. "I feel kind of gross after doing that, though. I knew exactly where their eyes were, and they were definitely not focused on my face."

Millard stood up.

"Shall we try to open up this door?"

Just as he said that, a small spider crawled from underneath the door, and up Jamie's leg. It came to rest at the top of his ear.

"The peculiarities." he said dreamily.

Suddenly, they heard bounding footsteps behind them. Jamie drew the gun and pointed it towards the end of the corridor. A figure came bounding around the corner, and Jamie shot, just barely missing the figure. The figure shrieked, fell to the ground, and yelled

"WHAT THE SHITE JAMIE?! ARE WE SHOOTING AT FAMILY MEMBERS NOW?!" Gideon fumed.

Jamie walked over to his stunned little brother, and patted him on the head.

"...are you okay?"

Gideon looked up and glared at his brother.
"Dont touch me." he hissed jokingly

They laughed, and Gideon stood back up. His eyes fixated on the door.

"The peculiarities.." He said, taking a couple of steps towards the heavily locked door.

They worked on the locks for several minutes (It would've taken much longer if the five individuals hadnt spent a lot of time picking locks) and opened the door. Millard knew his peculiarity was in there- he could feel it. His hands were flickering between being visible and invisible.

Millard opened the door to an unforgettable sight.
