"I'll go get my mom." Fabian said, running to the house.

Millard's head swam with terrible images of what could have happened. He became light headed, but stayed focused on Miss Peregrine. They waited for Fabian and his mother to return.

"Go on." Jamie prodded once they came back.

Miss Peregrine hesitated to speak again, but soon words came forth.

"The Miss Bluefoot you met..." she paused, searching for the right words, "is an imposter."

The others looked furious. Had they really been living with an imposter this whole time?

"It has only been an imposter since my wards and I arrived, so you four have been living with the real Miss Bluefoot for quite some time."

"How did it happen? Where's the real Miss Bluefoot? What happened to the others?" Alice asked quickly.

"We do not know how it happened, but we have located Miss Bluefoot. The other wards....." Miss Peregrine looked as if she was holding back tears, "Have been taken."

Millard didnt realize it just then, but he had started to cry.

"Where?" Gideon asked. He looked terribly mad.

"The year 2016 in Portland, Oregon." Miss Peregrine said.

"Where in the hell is that?" Fabian grumbled.

His mother elbowed him sharply. "Language"
Fabian rolled his eyes.

"Oregon is in the American Northwest." Alice said.

Gideon looked discouraged "How the fu-" His mother shot him a warning look, "How the fudge are we going to get to America? We can't drive there, and we haven't got enough money for a plane!"

"I've contacted a friend. He should have transportation for all of us from here to Portland by sunrise." Miss Peregrine said calmly.

Everyone went to bed soon after that. Millard had one of the couches in the living rooms, as did Alice. The brothers fell asleep very quickly, and Millard did too.

He woke up in the middle of the night, and it was still dark outside. He was covered in sweat, but that was because he was also covered in blankets. He removed two of the three blankets and hung them over the back of the couch. Still too warm, he took his shirt off and threw it to his feet, then settled back down. He glanced over to Alice just in time to see her eyes snap shut.

"I saw that. You're awake." he whispered.

She opened one eye.

"I'm asleep, I swear."

Millard laughed. He stood up, walked over to Alice and sat at her feet. She sat up, moved over to him, and put her head on his shoulder. His wrapped his arm around her, and held her close to him. Her hair smelled like a type of flower he couldnt quite name, and her steady breathing soothed his nerves. The moment was silent, and perfect.

Alice broke the silence. "Do you think they're alright?"

He didnt need to ask who. "I'm sure they're fine."

She let out a heavy sigh, and laid back down on the couch. Millard laid down next to her so that they were face to face. Millard stared into Alice's eyes for a while until they slowly began to close.

He had lied to her earlier. He wanted the others to be okay, but whatever took them was strong and smart, and he wasn't sure if they could defeat it.

With that thought, he listened to Alice's steady breathing, and drifted off into an uneasy sleep.
