I must say, that was the longest plane ride ever! Anne, Robin, and Gemma greeted us at the airport. Anne mentioned we'd stay at a hotel overnight to avoid the long drive to Holmes Chapel and then back to London the next morning. I was relieved, as I was weary of sitting. That evening, I spoke with Harry and admittedly, I wasn't truthful. I told him our hunting trip was unsuccessful. Waiting until eight to call due to the time difference was frustrating; he'd have known I was fibbing otherwise, since it would've been 2 p.m. our time. During our conversation, I wished him a Happy Birthday and shared how much I missed him. My nerves kept me from sleeping well.
Now, I'm here with Anne, watching Gemma dash about with Josh in tow. We're nearly done with the decorations, the food is set, and the open bar is ready. "Anne, this is beautiful. I really hope he loves it," I say, as she offers a warm smile.
"Maddie he will, he's not that hard to please, and once he sees you, he won't notice the rest anyways." I blush while tying a string to a balloon. "He has missed you, love. When he would call you are all he talked about."
"I missed him too. It's funny how you never know how much would miss someone until they're not around." I say this because I've realized its truth over the past year. Anne walks over, gently moving a strand of my hair that had fallen and tucking it behind my ear.
"You're such a strong girl. I am proud to say that you and my son are together. You two complete each other, and I have never seen him so happy." I smile holding in the tears.
"Mum, I swear if you make her cry..." Her words are interrupted as Anne raises her hand with a smile. As I turn around, Gemma approaches.
"No crying Maddie, it will mess up your make-up." I find it amusing because earlier, Gemma was adamant about doing my hair and makeup. She styled our hair in matching French braids, which was simple yet charming, and naturally, we had to wear dresses. Despite my vehement protests, she ultimately convinced me. 'Maddie, youhave to look good. He sees you in jeans all the time.' Standing here in a long orange dress, a denim jacket, and sandals, I must admit it looks nice. I just hope Harry agrees.
