Double Date

After breakfast I rush upstarts so I can get ready to ride. When I come down, Riley gives me a look, that states "ask him". I nod at her, and grab my hat, ready for Melody to take my worries, and stresses away.

"Lucas, Time to ride" I say waving my hat In front of his face, he nods, and we head outside. I'm buzzing with excitement, I never knew how fun riding is.

"Calm down, your gonna scare her" Lucas says, but I just ignore him, I'm way too excited. We get there, and Melody looks just as excited.

"Hey girl, you ready" I ask her running my finger through her mane, she neighs and nuzzles my face. Lucas puts on the saddle, and helps me up, again touching my ass.

"We need to find a better way to do that" I tell him once he's on his horse.

"Why, I enjoy it" he says, and he's off before I can yell at him. I follow him, and the familiar feeling of freedom washes over me. We stop at a look out point, and it's gorgeous.

"Maybe I'm telling you this because i'm so happy, but I can tell why you're so proud this is your home" I tell him, as I look out over the texan landscape.

"Wow, I would of never guessed" she says looking at me.

"Guessed what?" I ask him, looking toward him.

"Well, I knew one of you guys would love it here, its what I expected, but I always thought it would be Farkle or Riley, never you. You surprised me Heart" He says, butterflies swarm, when he calls he Heart.

"I've told you many of times, never underestimate me" I say petting Melody.

"Maybe now i'll learn" he says motioning for me to follow him. We ride for hours, but it always feels like minutes, fleeting minutes that make me feel alive. I brush Melody, after Lucas takes off her saddle, she looks at me, and I put my nose on hers. After we brush down our horse, we make our way back, and I realize I still haven't asked him.

"Lucas, would you, and Riley want to go on a double date with me, and Sam?" I ask hi quickly, he stops, and turns around facing me.

"What?" he ask confused. I groan and ask him again .

"I heard you, I'm just confused, why?" he asks his hands stuck deep in his pockets

"Well, Riley's my best friend, and I know you guys are complicated, I just want her there in my next date, and This is the only way she can be" I tell him, hoping he buys it.

"I don't know Maya, isn't it weird, that this would be Mine and Riley's first real date" He says, tipping his hat.

"No, its good, now it will be less awkward, i'm actually helping you" I tell him, he chuckles, and it bounces through me.

"Helping me, how?" he asks, and now it's my turn to be sassy.

"Well, you don't have the guts to ask her out yourself" I tell him, he scoffs, actually scoffs.

"How do you know I even want to ask her out because trust me, if I did, I would" he says confidently, sending a shiver through my spine, I laugh

"Mr, confident finally comes out, and I'm sue you want to go out with Riley" I tell him

"I don't, it's always awkward when were together, maybe that's a sign we're shouldn't date" he says seriously.

"Come on, you guys are Riley, and Lucas, you're definitely supposed to be together" I tell him, he looks up at me, his eyes are distant, and I realize he isn't joking anymore.

"How do you know, isn't it supposed to feel natural" he says looking at me, My body goes numb, and I have such an urge to kiss him, it scares me

"This is your chance to find out" I squeak out, he nods, and looks away. I can finally breathe without him staring at me.

"Fine, it will be a test run" he says starting for the house, I nod even though he can't see me. When we get inside Riley is waiting for us.

"Riley, me, and Maya were thinking, do you want to maybe go on a double date with Sam, and Maya?" he asks, she smiles the biggest smile, and nods vigorously. So its set, we're going on double date, how awkward. So we decided that tonight we would set a date, I called Sam, and he thought it was a good idea. So right now, Riley is freaking out over what to wear, and I have a migraine.

"I have no clothes" she yells almost in tears, I look around at her millions of clothes strewn across every Orpheus in her room, yeah no clothes.

"Come on, just pick something" I tell her, now i'm on the verge of tears. She glares at me.

"I have to look amazing, this is going to be his opinion of Date Riley" she says lifting up her favourite red dress with a pattern I can't explain.

"This is perfect" she says in awe as if she's never seen the dress before.

"Great now get ready, Sam's picking us up in an hour" I tell her finally going to my room. I don't go fancy, I wear my white hippy dress, with a mesh cover over, and my favourite white hat. When I come downstairs, Lucas, and Riley are sitting awkwardly on the couch.

"Alright, i'm ready" I say grabbing my purse, and texting Sam. I try to make them start a conversation, but the tension is too high.

"He's outside" I say rushing outside, I hug sam, and hop into the car. They follow my lead.

"Okay, where are we going?" I ask once we start driving, he takes my hand, and squeezes it.

"We're going to a good old fashion Texan carnival slash circus, sort of" Sam says, and I cheer.

"I've never been to a carnival, I'm so excited" I say practically giddy, he laughs, and I nudge him.

"Hey there, i'm driving" he says jokingly. The drive is pretty much silent except for a few conversation starters I throw out, that no one adds onto. When we get there, my excitement rises, and I fly out of the car. I look around, and Ive never seen anything quite like it. There's a ferris wheel, too many stations to count, and even A face painting station.

"Okay, where should we start?" Sam asks taking a whole of my hand.

"Ferris wheel" Me, and Riley yell in unison. While we're waiting in line, I finally get tired of how Riley, and Lucas are acting.

"Lucas, can I talk to you?" I ask, pulling him aside, and to giving him a chance to answer.

"What the hell, you guys need to talk" I whisper yell at him.

"I know, this is what I was telling you, when were on dates we don't know how to talk to each other" he says, he takes off his hat, and rubs his hands through his blonde hair.

"Okay, you just need to relax, don't think of it as a date" I tell him, he nods, and we go back in line. When we finally get to the front I hop on before anyone else. Sam sits next to me, and we're already up.

"This is so cool" I say looking bellow me, he laughs.

"Your cute, you know that" He tells me, I blush

"I know" I told him, he laughs, and we snuggle closer. I look down at Lucas, and Riley, they seem to be talking, I guess thats a start. When its time get off, I pout.

"What's next?" I ask, practically skipping with excitement!
