"Come on, Sunmi. Let me tuck you in bed." I said to the little girl who looked up at me with pleading eyes.
"But can't you read me another story?"
"I already read three stories for you today." I replied and she pouted.
I chuckled and gave her head a soft pat as I pushed her wheelchair towards her bed.
"I hate nap time." She crossed her arms while I tucked the blanket for her.
"You'll regret saying that when you reach college." I told her.
After a few minutes of arguing, she finally gave in and rolled to the other side, her back against me.
She dozed off almost immediately.
I quietly laughed at the little girl, shaking my head slightly.
The soft sound of the rain fell on the rooftop and gradually, it became louder.
I stood up almost immediately to check out the window if any of the kids were playing outside the garden.
There was one person in the middle of the field, sitting on her wheelchair.
But she isn't a child.
She's beautiful.
She brought up her face to the sky, as if welcoming the rain.
When she felt rain drops fall on her face, she closed her eyes and broke out into the most beautiful smile I have ever seen.
She was laughing, enjoying the rain to herself.
Watching her like that was enough to take my breath away.
I stood there frozen for another second, before it dawned on me that I was supposed to keep everyone out of the rain.
I jogged towards her direction, my heart racing with every step I took.
