I made it a habit to talk to Jia every time I had duty.
She still answers shortly most of the time, but I had caught her smiling once or twice.
We were lying down on a mat at the field, looking up at the blue sky.
At least, she was.
I was busy staring at her.
"How is the sky today?" She asked, her eyes looking straight into the sky.
We do this often. Her asking me how one particular thing looks like, and I do my best to give her the best picture in her mind.
"It's beautiful. As always." I said, while staring at her.
I could almost feel her imagining it in her head, and I felt a slight pang of sadness.
"I wish you could see this." I whispered, and she caught the pity in my voice.
She smiled sincerely, the same kind that never fails to melt my heart.
"I don't have to."
