Chapter- 24

We sat there, staring at each other while the familiar ringtone echoed throughout the room.

"You should answer him!" Sehun said all of a sudden, his thumb pad stroking my cheek ever so gently as he looked down at me with a warm smile on his lips.

"But... What if-" Sehun shook his head at me as he placed a finger on top of my lips, stopping me from saying anything further.
"Just answer the call already!"

I nodded and looked down at my phone, letting out a deep sigh before sliding my thumb against the screen, bringing it up to my ear.

"Yeboseyo.."
"Yeboseyo Baekhyun-ah!"

I teared upon hearing my father's voice. It has been a week since I saw him and mother and I missed them both so much.

"A-appa.. How are y-you?" I sobbed silently clenching onto my chest while Sehun comforted me but rubbing my back to calm me down.

"I'm fine Baekhyun-ah.. Have you been keeping well?! Jongdae paid us an unexpected visit yesterday. He's grown into such a fine young man, just like you."

I nodded my head with a faint smile before answering him.
"I miss you and umma!"

"We miss you too son." I sobbed harder this time. Sehun pulled me close, wrapping his arms around me.

"H-how is umma?" I asked seconds later, not wanting to keep him waiting over the line.

I heard a sigh followed by his voice.
"Well, the reason I called you is to tell you that your umma has finally responded to my calls. She came conscious a few days ago but she was too weak to utter a word but now she seems a lot better!"

I faintly smiled upon hearing those words. Sehun noticed this and leaned in, placing a quick peck on my cheek before running his hand through my hair.

"That's good to hear appa." I sighed out in relief, looking at our intertwined hands.
"Indeed. Baekhyun-ah, you really should come by. She's been asking for you ever since she got her voice back."

"Yes appa, I'll come by right away. I..." I looked at Sehun before looking back towards the ground.
"I've somethings I want to talk about with both of you too.."

Sehun sent me a look but I shrugged as I waited for my father's reply.

"Alright! I'll tell her-"
"No Don't! I want to surprise her!"
"Oh. Alright son! I won't say a word!"
