Little Girls

Carol POV

It was night fall, I walked around and took in the paintings from the walls. I looked in front of me to see a girl. A little girl with light brown hair stood in front of me holding a teddy bear. She just looked at me, probably wondering what I'm doing here.

"Carol, what are you doing out here..." My dad walked towards me but stopped when he saw the little girl.

"Melody, there you are." A maid walked towards the little girl, Melody, but saw the three of us.

"Oh no..." The maid muttered.

"I told you to keep her in her room!" Dad yelled from behind me.

"I'm sorry, sir. She just ran off." A maid explained. She was about to grab Melody, but I stepped in front of her.

"Don't touch her." I said, making me eyes turn completely black. The maid backed away. Melody grabbed my hand.

"Hi Melody, I'm Carol." Then her eyes flashed purple. She smiled at me but then frowned. I turned around to see dad behind me.

"Melody, go to your room." She nodded and let me hand go. The maid took her far until I couldn't see her.

"Who is she?" I asked softly.

"Nothing you should worry about." He was about to walk away but I used magic to make him stay where he was.

"Who is she?" I asked in a demanding voice.

"She is your half-sister." He says. I never knew I had a half-sister, I never knew I had any sisters! I didn't even know I had a dad or an AK brother!

"I'm here one night and already you keep secrets from me." I say.

"I was hoping to keep her away from you, till get you settled in first."

"Then why don't I believe you?" I didn't wait for an answer, I left in the same direction Melody went. I arrived to a room and saw Melody and the maid. The maid was tucking in Melody.

"... Melody you cannot be running off anymore, your father gets upset when you do that."

"Where's my mommy? When will my mommy be here." Melody asked the maid. It broke my heart to here that.

"I don't know." I knocked softly on the door. The maid stood and bow, while Melody smiled at me.

"Hi Melody..." I said softly.

"Your the nice girl from earlier. Are you here to see my dad?" I nodded.

"You know he's my dad too." I said. A flick of excitement was shown in her eyes.

"Your my sister? My dad told me that you would be here, but that you would be to busy to ever see me."

"I would never be to busy for you, and you know you also have a brother. He's a nice guy." Melody smiled.

"When can I meet him?" She asked

"Soon I hope..."

"Can you sing my a song? My mommy always does."

"Sure." I sat at the edge of her bed,

Lay down your head and I'll sing you a lullaby,
Back to the years of loo-li lai-lay,
And I'll sing you to sleep and I'll sing you tomorrow,
Bless you with love for the road that you go...

Half-way through the song I heard a soft snore. I look down to see Melody sleeping. The fact that I just met her for only a few minutes, I feel connected to her. I will protect Melody.
