When little America was practicing saying England's name, he said 'Engwand'. England actually held up a wand he had for America to see. Of course, America grabbed it...and set England's pants on fire. He managed to douse it (bless you, morning tea) but was concerned for America afterwards. In the end, England never told anyone about America being able to do magic without even being taught a fire spell because deep down he secretly just doesn't want him to grow up being known as an 'evil sorcerer' like he was. France came to the same conclusion and asked England about it, but he denied it. That's where 'liar, liar pants on fire' came from.
