Part 7: Apology

Days have passed; new trainees were admitted to the Recon Corps and of course, the expedition was explained thoroughly to every new recruit. Since Petra was with Commander Erwin, she needed to explain the details to the squad in Hanji’s stead.

The next morning, the squadron met in a certain room inside the headquarters, which resembled a classroom. Levi led the next discussion, explaining a method to how to stop Eren when he’s on rampage in his Titan form without killing him. Of course, Hanji wanted to be the head planner of this arrangement, since she’s eager to do experimentation on Eren.

Hanji suggested that Eren should transform in a certain well, near the headquarters in order to suppress his body if in case he goes insane. So they went through that plan.

Petra waited for an outcome while they were eating far away from the well. They were with the other members of the Recon Corps, to stand on guard as well.

“Hey, Petra…” Erd called while he drank from a cup.

She looked at him. “What is it Erd?”

“What do you think of Captain Levi?” He asked her while he was laughing. “Besides, it’s Auruo’s fault that your door was broken a few days ago when he was opening it, and it’s his fault you have ended up in his room.”

“Stop telling me it’s my fault.” Auruo snarled. “She should’ve been in my room so we’d do all the things we want to!”

Petra immediately stood up since she was pissed off Auruo. “Shut up will you? You really are pathetic! And I hate the way you imitate the Captain…”

While they were conversing, Levi, Hanji and Eren were approaching the table. Of course, despite the looks on their faces, it seems that something was wrong. Levi made Eren sit down and rest for a bit, then telling him that if he can’t turn into a Titan, then retaking Wall Maria has a small chance of success. After that, Levi left the table and looked towards the mountainous horizon in front of him.

“So, how did the experiment go?” She asked.

Levi took a sip from his cup. “It didn’t turn out on how we expected it to be…” He looked up. “Well, it’s pretty damn annoying that we have to depend on that brat… even if now, we know that he can’t transform into a Titan.”

“But I guess we can’t lose hope… right?” She said as she looked far away as well.

“I know that… but…” Before Levi would finish his statement he sipped from the cup when suddenly, a thunderous roar from behind him startled the both of them, as a result taking their attention. Petra immediately reacted to it, and saw a certain figure she does not expect to see now. Of course, this alarmed the whole legion. Petra immediately approached the suspicious figure, but Levi went ahead of her.

“Captain!! WAIT!” she called for him, but he ignored her. She approached the figure surrounded by smoke, and saw Eren in his back view stuck within Titan’s flesh. Erd, Auruo and Gunther were definitely alarmed by this, and unsheathed their blades, glaring at Eren, thinking that he might betray them. But why now? She also so Levi standing in front of Eren. What was in his mind?

She was enraged. He’s definitely going to get killed with that distance.

“Calm down…” He said calmly while his hands were half raised in front of him. Eren was mumbling behind Levi, and the rest of them fiercely glared at Eren. Since the squad did not put their blades down, Levi ordered them to calm down once again.

Erd questioned Eren, then was followed by Gunther, then Auruo, who was taunting him. Levi tried to calm them down, but it was no use. They were enraged.
