"Are you sure we'll be safe down here?" Ren asked as he helped me carry Kiryu down. I didn't answer, because I didn't want him to have a false sense of security. I wanted him prepared for anything. I closed the entrance, grabbing a metal rail piece and bending it into the lock so no one could open it.
"Even if someone knew about this place, they'd get lost trying to find us. Tunnels run in every direction and it's easy to get lost here." I said and he nodded. "It was originally made for vampires so they could move about during the day but not be seen by hunters." I said and Ren snorted.
"But you're a hunter and know about it." He said and I shrugged.
"The hunters built it. If the vampires were sane enough to use it, they didn't pose a threat to humans. If the people that used this tunnels sensed a level E or a rogue, they would take them out. The hunters weren't usually needed here until about twenty years ago when there was a mass murdering here of both vampires and hunters. It was crazy, honestly. They stopped using it because they were able to seal them all in here so they couldn't escape. Now it's just used as an escape route for people that are being hunted." I explained, walking and looking over my shoulder every few steps. I reached into my pocket and felt my bloody rose still right by my heart.
"I hope your aim is still good." Ren joked and I feigned hurt.
"You don't think you got your good eyes from your father now do you?" I asked and he smiled. He was a very beautiful child, honestly. He looked like me, with subtle hints of Kaname in him. Sakuri wasn't any less beautiful, but she looked like Kaname with subtle hints of me but yet they looked the same. I guess Kaname's features were more feminine after all. I chuckled at the thought.
"Thinking about dad?" He asked and I just nodded. He sighed and looked over his shoulder. "I know it's scary, but we'll find him. With all of us working together, they won't stand a chance." He said with a reassuring smile. Kiryu groaned and we both stopped, looking at each other before laying him down to check on him.
"Head..... Board.... Save him..... By.... Blood..." He started twitching and I used my seal to calm him. "The only way to save him is to shed the blood of a loved one." He said quickly and then went back still.
"Wait, save who? Save dad? Kiryu wake up please, we need you." Ren shook him gently but no luck. "Who's blood? What does that mean?" Ren asked, but I just sat there looking at him.
"I-I don't know." I said, but I had a bad feeling. Something came up to us and I pulled my gun out, point blank at their head. They put their hands up.
"Whoa, dad chill. It's just me." Sakuri said and I sighed. I put my gun away and she eyed it curiously. "Why do you have a gun?" She asked.
"It's a vampire gun. It won't hurt humans." I explained and she nodded slowly. "Did anything weird happen?" I asked and she nodded, handing me a piece of paper. I looked over it and was shocked. "They want to kill all vampires." I said, raising an eyebrow. "This is clearly the work of vampires though, no human could have done this." I said, trying to convince myself that it was wrong.
"Exactly, they're luring people in that have a strong hatred for vampires, the ones that pose as a threat to them." She said but that still left a question in my mind.
"But what would that have to do with your father?" I asked and she scrunched her face up.
"He's a pure blood, of course they're going to take him. The promise of killing someone as high up as him is very tempting. If they bring all of those people in, they can turn them into level E, a whole fucking army." Ren said, and I scratched my head.
"This, something doesn't add up. They won't get anything out of this. The hunters association would have definitely caught wind of this and they would have put a stop to it, even they would sense something wrong." I stated, having a strange feeling about something.
"Do you think this is about something other than dad?" Sakuri asked and I nodded, but it was a so so nod.
"Yes and no. It has to do with him, but he isn't a big part of it. I just can't put my finger on what they could want. I mean, Yuki is a pure blood for fucks sake. Why wouldn't they get her? I mean sure, she isn't as strong as Kaname but that should seem even better so she wouldn't fight." I said making them look at each other. "As of right now, we trust no one. We don't know what this is about, but all we have right now is each other and we have to protect each other." I commanded and they nodded.
"What about the baby?" Ren asked, worry filling his entire being. I put my hand on my stomach, feeling the small almost nonexistent bump.
"Maybe, we won't have to engage into a fight but if we do, I will protect my children with everything I have. Just like my parents did." I said, earning strong nods from them both. "I will search for a way to keep you all safe, even if it means losing my own life. Now help me get your brother, we've got a long way to go." I said and they both nodded.
We started walking, taking turns carrying Kiryu and keeping look out for any suspicious activity. Everything seemed normal, until we came to a tunnel way that was blocked. We all looked at each other, hearing the sound of hissing coming from behind the debris.
"What the hell...." Sakuri asked, staring with wide eyes at the large tunnel that was serving as a cage for level E's.
"Keep moving, we don't have a lot of time now. They've already gotten an army going." I commanded and we took our only other option to go in the other direction.
Oh how I hated the sight I seen when we started walking.
Okay! This plot twist sucks up until it gets to the actual climax! Maybe I'll make it better xD
