Everyone has felt sad once in their life. Everyone has felt happy once in their life, even if it lasted for a second.
How I felt now, happy was an understatement.
Tears of joy stared forming as I looked at the person in front of me.
His curly chestnut hair was combed back neatly, a hair belt at the end securing it at the back. His piercing green eyes with a hint of hazel in the middle looked back at me, mirroring my shocked actions. His pointed strong jaw and defined cheekbones attracted the ladies, and the men. His dark grey suit fit his toned torso and legs perfectly, so did the black shirt which had the two first buttons open.
He repeated my name again, "Jasmine, is that you?"
I nodded, "Bhaiya, is that you?"
He nodded, a grin breaking free. I ran up to him and wrapped my arms around him, making him stumble backwards. He hugged me; his huge muscles wrapped it around my upper torso. It felt so good to be in his embrace.
I couldn't help my tears of joy. After 5 long, torturous years I was finally reunited with my brother, Abid Malik.
"Jazzy," he murmured, running his arms down my long hair. I inhaled his aftershave. I felt safe, knowing that my brother had come back.
"Abby," I sobbed crying on his shoulder. "You left me, why?" Thank God I wasn't wearing makeup today.
"I'm sorry, I had to." He apologised repeatedly.
After a long embrace I heard someone cough behind us. We broke away. I almost forgot that Matt was here, almost.
"Sorry about that Matthew," Abid apologised wiping away tears.
"That's alright Abid." Matt smiled. He looked at us again.
"Matthew, I would like to introduce my youngest sister, Jasmine Malik," Abid said. "Jasmine, this is Matthew, a close friend of mine."
My eyes bulged out, "close friend? When you mean close, you don't mean close-close do you?" I asked wearily.
Abid let out a throaty laugh, "we're strictly friends, not partners."
I sighed, in relief.
A part of me was happy that Matt wasn't gay. I wasn't homophobic but it would've been awkward if my boss and brother had slept together and if they had broken up on bad terms. I could imagine how harsh Matt would be towards me if he still kept a grudge on Abid.
I glanced at Matt whose face didn't convey emotions. I turned around to Bhaiya and mouthed "I think I pissed him off."
I bit my bottom lip nervously closing my eyes and I heard Abid laugh more. I cursed several times and frowned at my older brother. "I am sorry if my sister offended you Matt, she has the body of a woman and the mind of a curious 3-year-old and she lacks common sense half the time. You'll get used to her weird but amusing sense of humour overtime," he chuckled at the end.
I forced out a chuckle and then glared at Bhaiya.
"I'm just going to forget we had this conversation," Matt muttered. I could imagine Matt shaking his head at us. "Jasmine, go get your brother and I coffee from Costa."
